Students within a PRU may be facing a variety of challenges that have meant that they have not had successful experiences within mainstream schools. They may have damaged or low self-esteem, social and emotional challenges or additional special education needs. As a result, they may not be working at an age-appropriate educational level. As a PRU Teaching assistant, you will work to mentor students and support them to maximise their progress and achievement.<br /><br /><strong>PRU Teaching Assistant | Job Summary</strong><br /><ul><li>Adapt and rise to the varying challenges that occur day to day with empathy and resilience.</li><li>Prepare learning resources that are tailored to the individual needs of each pupil.</li><li>Act as a mentor and positive role model for students, building trusting and supportive working relationships with them.</li><li>Encourage students’ educational and personal development.</li><li>Work effectively as a member of a dedicated team to promote student progress and achievement.</li><li>Deal with confidential and sensitive information.</li></ul>This PRU Teaching Assistant role is based in a supportive Pupil Referral Unit in Barnet who prioritise student and staff wellbeing. You’ll join a large and experienced staff team delivering a range of teaching and learning interventions to pupils.<br /><br /> If you have formal or informal experience of working with children with SEN needs or within a PRU, or believe you possess the attributes to do so, please get in touch with Ribbons & Reeves today.
