Associate Researcher I - Hematology & Medical Oncology

An Associate Researcher I position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Bravo-Cordero in the Tisch Cancer Institute, Division of Hematology/Medical Oncology and Department of Medicine at The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai –New York (US). Our lab focuses on understanding the mechanisms of tumor dormancy with emphasis on the role of the tumor microenvironment; using a strong combination of: -microscopy techniques (in vivo multiphoton, confocal, light sheet microscopy), -analytical imaging approaches, as well as -molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (visit https://labs.icahn.mssm.edu/bravo-cordero-lab/ for detailed information) We are looking for an enthusiastic, organized and highly motivated individual who will be responsible for daily maintenance/ care of laboratory operations as well as performing laboratory work in support of scientific research conducted in the lab. The Tisch Cancer Institute is a vital component of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital. We are a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated center and provide a multidisciplinary approach to cancer treatments and clinical breakthroughs that may one day put an end to cancer. Roles & Responsibilities: Conducts routine and standardized experiments using advanced research techniques specific to subject matter of the research project. Analyzes and assists in interpreting moderately complex results. Performs assays to support research studies. Assists in new and unexpected research experiments and techniques. Assists in the collection, analysis and review of experimental data for publication and presentation. Performs other related duties Requirements: Master’s degree in Biology or Biochemistry or a closely related field or a Bachelor’s degree with previous work experience. Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques such as tissue culture, molecular biology skills such as DNA isolation, PCR and electrophoresis and protein biochemistry. Willing to work with rodents and comfortable with mice handling. A special emphasis will be in candidates with experience in microscopy, immunofluorescence techniques as well as live cell imaging and in vivo imaging skills. Must be well organized, have excellent oral and written communication skills. Candidate must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively. The salary range for the role is $58,661.00 - $75,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
