As a Member of Technical Staff III, you will be a part of a highly collaborative group of creative problem solvers with a passion for innovation. You will use modern web technologies like Angular, TypeScript, and others to write code that has a target lifespan of decades. Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing? During your first three months you can expect to: Ramp up on our code base, architecture, and development methodologies. Understand the design system’s purpose and responsibilities, including how to advocate for top notch user and developer experiences. Get to know our design, accessibility, and other partners to give you a glimpse into their needs. Begin supporting other teams by identifying and triaging bugs, providing guidance, and doing some remediation work. Focus on mostly small development wins that will help establish a good rapport with your peers. Gain a deeper understanding of Angular as you improve existing and work on new components designed to work across many end user products. Gain a basic understanding of some key VMware technologies and domains by attending internal trainings, reading technical material, and having conversations with peers and team members. Within your first six months you can expect to: Work with other developers, designers, architects, accessibility specialists, and researchers across VMware as needed. Actively support stakeholders through established support channels. Contribute to the execution and delivery of a pre-defined body of work, deepening your UI development expertise and increasing your impact. Receive mentoring and guidance from your senior teammates. Within your first 12 months you can expect to Work alongside your senior teammates in designing and developing new components and initiatives. Cocreate and copresent technical presentations and partner with other teammates on advocacy and adoption initiatives. Help onboard and mentor new teammates. The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis? You will be responsible for helping to build high-quality, scalable, user-centric UI components for our Clarity Design System. Your regular work and tasks include: Writing code for components, both individually and as part of a group initiative, complete with unit tests. Helping teammates with thoughtful code reviews Supporting our community with answering questions, triaging bug reports, and developing fixes. Pushing your teammates to improve their skills and share knowledge. Working within an agile methodology to make continuous progress. What is the leadership like for this role?
