Senior Firmware Engineer

Overview Position Summary The primary responsibility of this position is to develop firmware for microcontroller subsystems and control system software for our Cargo X-ray scanner and imaging systems. This candidate must have experience across the software stack including firmware, software application interfaces, communications protocols, and control system application software. You will participate in many aspects of the end-to-end firmware and software development life cycle. A well-suited candidate will have the capacity to collaborate with other team members and engineering disciplines. This is a hands-on role requiring accomplished analytical and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities Responsibilities Design, develop and maintain software and firmware across the whole SDLC. Drive and debug critical severity firmware-centric defects/issues. Make regular modifications to existing firmware and software for error correction and to improve overall function and performance. Design and implement firmware for embedded devices and systems. Design and implement control system desktop application software. Maintenance of the current firmware and software as required. Work closely with other engineers to develop firmware and software for new products Resolve issues proactively to deliver high quality products Specific Knowledge and Skills Excellent firmware development experience in solo capacity highly preferred. Extensive experience with C/C++ development for embedded applications. Solid C/C++ programming experience on 32-bit microprocessor embedded platforms Experience with low-level communications protocols such as TCP/IP and UDP. Good understanding of various protocols, including RS-232/485, SPI, CAN Experience in analysis, design, development, and deployment of distributed applications. Knowledge of design patterns, performance issues and troubleshooting strategies. Functional knowledge of Application Lifecycle Methodologies and processes such as Agile Development, Continuous Integration, etc. using Team Foundation Server (TFS), Team Services (VSTS), and/or Azure DevOps preferred. Solid knowledge of Windows operating system Functional Skills Knowledge of Screening and Scanning technologies is a plus Exposure to Security Systems domain is a plus Soft Skills Ability to accomplish assigned tasks without supervision. Excellent verbal/written communication skills with very good teaming skills Good documentation skills and software process discipline Self initiative and self managed Voice out issues and persuasive to resolve issues Good time management and organizational skills An ability to work to deadlines Qualifications Educational Qualifications E/B.Tech or M.E/M.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering and in specializations related to firmware At least 8 years of firmware development experience in a product based company using several of the skills and technologies mentioned below.
