VP Litigation

Who are we hiring? The VP Legal & Business Affairs for Litigation will assist the Senior Vice President Associate General Counsel of Litigation in protecting the global legal interests of MSG Entertainment and its subsidiaries by assisting with the management of claims, litigation, investigations and disputes, working on a wide range of litigation matters, providing strategic legal advice to the organization by working with other key internal and external stakeholders, and assisting with internal governance, compliance and risk management activities across the company. The position will report to the Senior Vice President Associate General Counsel of Litigation. What will you do? Engaging in all aspects of pre-litigation claims and circumstances, lawsuits, and arbitrations, including intake, claim analysis, communication with legal and business colleagues and clients, assistance with the development and implementation of litigation strategy, negotiations, and finalization and closure of matters. Assist in the handling of government inquiries and internal investigations, including with respect to ethics complaints, whistleblower escalations, and compliance with internal policies and procedures. Assist and in certain cases lead in responding to discovery requests, subpoenas and third-party requests for information. Understanding and assisting in the management of the Company’s legal record hold process Assist with the management of outside counsel, including negotiating fee arrangements, budgeting, forecasting, and bill review. Monitoring and regularly reporting on litigation developments to the Senior Vice President for Litigation. Liaising with Corporate Communications, Threat Management, Risk Management, Government Affairs, and other partners where relevant to dispute management and reporting. Assist with the training of internal clients across different lines of business on avoiding and managing potential and actual legal disputes. Contributing to Legal Department and Company-wide projects. What do you need to succeed? Strong background in litigation, including general commercial litigation, intellectual property, securities class action and/or insurance coverage litigation, with experience in federal and state courts, as well as mediation and arbitration forums. In-house litigation management experience is a plus. Strong analytical skills, independent and strategic thinking, and excellent judgment. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team overseeing multiple assigned matters simultaneously. Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to convey complex legal principles clearly and concisely. Ability to work under pressure. Experience with e-discovery platforms. Legal education and JD from top accredited law school 5+ years practicing litigation at a sophisticated level at a law firm, government agency and/or in-house legal department. Member of New York Bar or registered with New York's Appellate Division as in-house counsel. * Why is MSG for me? Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp.
