Principal Software/Firmware Engineer II, Reduced Risk Product Development

Overview Want to lead firmware and embedded software design in support of reduced risk inhalable product development for a Fortune 200 Company with some of the most iconic brands? If you have a bachelor’s degree along with 10 plus year of experience designing, engineering, and commercializing embedded software for electronic products, we want to speak with you! We are currently looking for a Principal Software/Firmware Engineer II, Reduced Risk Product Development to join our Innovative Product Development Team in Richmond, VA but are open to a remote work arrangement. You will maintain and improve existing firmware and software assets, including documentation and managing processes for software verification/validation as required. Working closely with internal and external partners on new product development teams to deliver product performance, and user experiences in accordance with business requirements/specifications. What you will be doing: Developing internal infrastructure and implementing strategies to ensure current and future software engineering needs are satisfied to support development of inhalable product platforms. Leading embedded software and firmware development for innovative inhalable devices to meet design requirements and ensure system level integration. Serving as software/firmware system design authority. Leading technical discussions and problem solving for software projects and collaborating with platform and system architects on the impacts of design decisions. Building and leading a team of software engineers (internal resources and external design partners) on software engineering methodologies and new technologies; reviewing designs and architectures of the product development team. Serving as company SME for software/firmware activities and initiatives. Leading the development, integration and testing of firmware modules for various core device technologies in collaboration with internal and external partners. Crafting a roadmap for firmware modules to accelerate the prototype development and leading the development plan for these modules, including the firmware aspect of new technology and effective implementation of the roadmap. We want you to have: Bachelor’s degree required (Software Engineering or related field). 10+ years of relevant experience in design, engineering and testing of embedded software for electronic products. Experience building and leading internal/external software teams and implementing software engineering standard methodologies for embedded software development. Firmware design experience across the full product lifecycle within multi-disciplinary teams in industries such as consumer electronics, automotive electronics, medical device manufacturers/ scientific instrument manufacturers and lab automation product or service providers Experience in Software and Firmware development of embedded applications, with solid experience with low-level C (drivers and RTOS), Python programming and technical project management using Agile practices Ability to establish the relationships, infrastructure and build effective partnerships with external suppliers to expand Software/Firmware capabilities Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Must have the ability to deliver effective formal presentations to senior management. Demonstrated ability to take a hands-on role in software development and to work closely with the team to diagnose and solve complex challenges. Experience developing software products within a regulated or high assurance environment and familiarity with the tools and processes needed to ensure design quality and traceability.
