Department: Fundraising & Supporter Dev Office

Contact details: Alex Sigston , [email protected]

Fundraising and Supporter Development (F&SD) is an integrated department, based at King’s College London, that provides a single fundraising and supporter engagement function for King’s College London (KCL), King’s Health Partners (KHP), Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity, Evelina London Charity and Guy’s Cancer Charity.

King’s is currently in the planning stages of a major new philanthropic campaign, which will significantly scale the university’s current fundraising activity. Our health partners are also scaling up their ambitions for philanthropy with a new 4 year strategy about to commence. We are looking for an excellent Project Developer to join our fantastic team.

The Project Development team work collaboratively with fundraisers to support our partners to shape philanthropic projects, ensuring they are realistic, accountable and can drive real change. Our main focus is on priority projects – those strategically selected by each partner in collaboration with F&SD – but our processes, expertise and storytelling abilities are also used to support donor-informed propositions and so the team aim to be agile and responsive in terms of supporting these potentially transformative opportunities.

Our core output is the creation of written collateral, gift opportunities and priority project key messaging designed to inspire donors and equip fundraisers for success and be easily tailored by them for their external audiences, supporting them to have great fundraising conversations at each stage of the cultivation cycle. We also produce a range of other content (proposals, film, case studies) to further support F&SD colleagues, as well as running interactive sessions designed to engage and inspire them. We work in close partnership with fundraisers, donor relations, events, prospect research and other teams across the department.

It will be the responsibility of the post holder to scope the fundraising potential for student support, research, clinical and capital projects with all our partners. The successful candidate will use their excellent writing and communications skills to work in close partnership with Heads of Fundraising and fundraisers to turn these projects into fundraising propositions. They will welcome the opportunity to work on a range of projects which seek to make a real impact in areas as diverse as, but not limited to, student success, children and young people’s mental health, climate and sustainability, peace, justice and sanctuary, neuroscience, and cancer.

With strong project management skills, the post holder will have the confidence, accountability and leadership skills to own and drive projects forward in partnership with fundraisers and support the shaping and costing of projects, proposals, papers and film collateral in line with the interests of our very largest potential donors. Working collaboratively with F&SD leadership, senior academics/clinicians and university and hospital staff, they will own, assess, scope and articulate the fundraising priorities against KCL’s strategy and vision, King’s Health Partner’s priority projects and the Guy’s and St Thomas’ fundraising strategy.

This is a full-time post. Indefinite contract.
