Continuous Improvement Analyst

MSD Wimborne have an exciting new opportunity for a Rapid Continuous Improvement Technician. The role originates from the successes experienced as part of Davenport Implementation. This role will support closer alignment across MSD as well as giving the opportunity to take proven methods at Wimborne to further enhance the overall MSD solution. The role will report to the Continuous Improvement Lead and MSD RCI Divisional Lead (Davenport) however, it is essential that this role works closely with all aspects of the Operations community. Whilst processes exist at other MSD site which this role can be modelled upon it is essential to be an organised, motivated, self-starter with a willingness to learn. This will include evolving the work space in which the role is located down to sourcing existing packaging solutions for re-use to create a workshop area primed to support rapidly producing solutions. As the RCI technician, whilst qualifications and experience are desired, behaviours are crucial and should include: creative in establishing the process in Wimborne and ensuring a robust process to capture opportunities, measure successes and ultimately report successes through Return on Investment (for example capturing metrics such as reduced Rework/Scrap, Factory Cost Out and/or Utilisation improvements) Good motivator who can inspire people and champion the importance of CI for everyone Effective facilitator with excellent communications skills who understands and is sensitive to cultural issues Able to influence and solicit buy in from wide range of stakeholders Willingness to train, mentor, and coach individuals on the RCI activities, tools and their application Objective, fact-based problem solver with a sense of urgency and commitment to achieving objectives Prior experience with lean manufacturing and/or root cause problem solving tools and application desired but not essential and can be accommodated as part of training and on-boarding Skilled in using basic hand and power tools is desired. Manual Handling experience is desired as it may be necessary at times to lift items Ability to understand and comply with requirements such as technical documents / drawings, test procedures and work instructions where appropriate. As a RCI Technician, your main responsibilities will involve: As this is a new role, it will be necessary to work closely with counterparts in MSD to grow the team and implement the process Areas which may require RCI Technician support or provide guidance on include but are not limited to part preservation, storage solutions, 5S, Visual Management and waste reduction The role will need to ensure clear and regular stakeholder engagement is established with specific engagement across Operations, shop floor, Manufacture Engineering, Stores and the Model Shop. Understands and ensures activities support both the RCI and CI Vision as well as the MSD Wimborne goals and objectives for the business Work with the Continuous Improvement Lead to formulate improvement plans to close the gaps and ensure alignment not duplication Drive the effective use of Root Cause Problem Solving and Corrective Action Support CI initiatives and JDI (Just Do It) projects Work with the EHS team and/or model shop for technical or hazardous work that is needed for project completion that is outside the RCI Technician’s training and skills. Coordinate project priorities with Value Stream Leads/Managers, Operations Managers and Supervisors where appropriate. Work with the EHS Team to bring resolution to identified safety hazards. Document success and ensure these are visible across the site to help continued growth of the initiative This role is based in Wimborne, Dorset. Whilst we are able to offer flexible working arrangements, such as nine-day-fortnight and flexibility across core hours the role is required to be predominantly on-site due to the hands-on nature of the role.
