Senior Process Engineer

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br><b> Senior Process Engineer </b><br><br>Wood is currently recruiting a <b>Senior Process Engineer</b> on a contract basis to support our process engineering team in Glasgow for a minimum of 12 months. <br><br>The successful candidate will join the process engineering team on project teams and have responsibility for aspects of the process design across a range of Wood's current projects at all stages of the design process. You will be joining a team servicing a range of different industries including traditional Petrochemical, Refining, Gas and Chemicals projects, but also working in the power sector and emerging technologies, such as Hydrogen and CCS, in the energy transition market. <br><br>We are looking for engineers with the drive and commitment to make a genuine difference to our performance on projects across the full life cycle, from studies and FEED to EPC, to ensure that Wood continues to differentiate itself from its competitors by delivering quality projects to our client's requirements. Applicants with technical skills and experience in these markets are welcome. Experience in a lead engineer role would be added advantage. <br><br><b> Duties and Responsibilities </b><br><ul><li> Support the Lead process Engineer on delivery of projects. Ensure completion of tasks as assigned by the lead engineer </li><li> Lead the process design activities on smaller scopes ensuring that design meets contractual, safety and quality requirements and is delivered on time and within assigned budgets </li><li> Understand the technical and commercial risks associated with project scopes and manage these risks through execution. </li><li> Ensure that designs satisfy all operational and safety requirements. Ensure a high standard of safety is achieved and Environmental and Quality Assurance procedures are followed </li><li> Execute assigned tasks within the budget and schedule, as well as maintaining technical quality of the submitted work </li><li> Complete checking of calculations and deliverables as assigned. Ensure the checking of calculations and project deliverables is in accordance with Wood procedures </li><li> Provide direction and guidance to junior members of the project team to help them complete assigned tasks </li><li> Complete and/or check sizing calculations including: compressible and incompressible hydraulics, vessels, tanks, pumps, control valves and instrumentation. For Brownfield facilities complete rating and sizing calculations for pumps, control valves, heat exchangers etc </li><li> Prepare relief calculations and other safety related calculations </li><li> Prepare critical process deliverables: Basis of Design, Process Flow Diagrams, Mass and Energy Balances, Equipment specifications, Design Philosophies, P&IDs, Line lists, Tie-in Lists </li><li> Communicate effectively within a multi-discipline design team to complete assigned tasks </li><li> When required, provide input to HAZIDs, HAZOPs, LOPAs, and other safety reviews as directed </li><li> Participate in technical meetings with multi-discipline team to complete tasks </li><li> Contribute where necessary to review of supplier quotations and reviews of supplier documentation to ensure it fulfils the project requirements </li><li> Complete continuous improvement and professional development to meet the requirements of assigned tasks or understand new technology </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><ul><li> Chemical Engineering Degree </li><li> Chartered Chemical Engineer status preferred </li><li> Experience of working on FEED and EPC projects associated with Pharmaceutical, Oil & Gas, Energy or Chemicals sectors </li><li> Experience in Carbon Capture and/or Hydrogen considered to be a bonus </li><li> Experience of delivery of Brownfield and Greenfield projects </li><li> Proven core Process Engineering skills and demonstrable design experience </li><li> A self-motivated, proactive individual with high achievement drive and initiative, excellent verbal and written communication skills and good organisational awareness.
