Site Name: UK - London - Brentford Posted Date: Feb 5 2023 Head of Value and Access This role will be based at GSK House, UK We are looking for a key commercial talent who can “step change” our Market Access capability in the UK to ensure we deliver against our mission “to get ahead of disease together” and our culture of being “ambitious for patients”. This is an exciting new role which will be accountable for taking our Market Access ambition to the next level. As the Head of Market Access in the UK, reporting to the UK GM and being part of the Leadership Team you be asked to define the roadmap and deliver plans to achieve it. This is a highly visible role where you will be asked to provide thought leadership for the UK business partnering with Global, Region and our external customers to deliver it. The Head of Market Access, UK Commercial, will play a pivotal role in ensuring GSK medicines get to the patients that need them. We are looking for someone who is passionate about ensuring new medicines innovation is made available to NHS patients in the most efficient way. Someone who has a deep understanding of the ever-changing UK reimbursement environment and seeks to constantly investigate ways to improve the rapid access to medicines. This position leads the access strategy and implementation of GSK’s medicine portfolio in the UK. You will work with our global and local teams to ensure to find solutions to complex problems. You will be accountable for building relationships with key external stakeholders (NHS, NICS, SMC, AWMSG) to articulate the value our medicines bring to patients and ensure the broadest possible access. Key Responsibilities, but not limited to: Member of the UK leadership team providing strategic market access input to key business decisions to drive commercial success for the GSK UK business Lead and develop UK market access team to ensure value of GSK medicines is understood and received by external customers Establish relationships with key senior external stakeholders and related influence groups, including industry groups, and ensure GSK reputation with these stakeholders is maintained at a high level Effective stakeholder management with key external partners including but not limited to local, regional and national commissioning bodies, HTA bodies, horizon scanning organisations, clinical experts and patient advocacy organisations Lead negotiations with NHS England (including the CDF) and other stakeholders to obtain optimal access and pricing outcome for GSK assets In conjunction with Government Affairs, understand government priorities which have the potential to impact on market access and provide insight to UK leadership team on key policy changes Responsible for ensuring UK engagement with European and Global stakeholders, including membership of brand market access teams, to drive market access strategy for in-market and pipeline assets. Develop optimal pricing and market access strategy at national and sub-national levels aligned to brand strategy across the GSK portfolio Lead the development of business cases to support approval of UK pricing and market access strategy Support business unit and pricing team in tender submissions Ensure market access strategy is incorporated in UK brand planning process in partnership with the business units Ensure health outcome team is able to deliver exceptional dossier for successful NICE submission Lead field team to identify, evaluate and develop opportunities for adding value to patients, the healthcare system and GSK Responsible for pricing governance all price changes and approvals at GSK UK During the course of your application you will be requested to complete voluntary information which will be used in monitoring the effectiveness of our equality and diversity policies. Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Educated to degree or equivalent level with a life sciences qualification. Advanced degree PhD or MBA is bonus Significant experience in pharmaceutical industry especially in commercial and/or access area. Relevant commercial experience including new product introduction and product launches Relevant experience of market access for specialist diseases and oncology, bringing medicines through the pricing and reimbursement process as well as driving access and uptake across multiple therapy areas Good understanding of the UK HTA processes and the work involved, particularly the NICE process and how commercial discussions are linked into the appraisal process. Good understanding of the NHSE Commercial Framework and experience with negotiations Excellent communication and experience of negotiations with senior level NHS stakeholders Led HTA strategy and submissions in specialist and oncology disease areas Strong interpersonal and communication skills Excellent negotiator High personal accountability and integrity combined with the ability and experience to influence at a strategic level and gain the support and commitment of internal and external stakeholders Demonstrated ability to work effectively with LOC/region/Global Franchise matrix, to include scientific and commercial stakeholders. Ability to work independently towards set objectives and to manage several projects simultaneously.
