Senior Manager Finance, Sphere & Special Event

Who are we hiring? The Senior Manager is responsible for the management and oversight of all event-specific financials, including all revenue and expenses, for the MSG Sphere concert residencies and NY and Chicago based special events. This includes the creation of initial budget offers, budget revisions, post-show settlements, senior management reporting, and event assignments. The Senior Manager will become the subject matter expert related to event expenses for these two areas of operations, including having comprehensive understanding of labor rules and rates, and being responsible for establishing new processes and event standards. Additionally, the Senior Manager will work in conjunction with the financial planning and analysis team on the annual corporate budget and regular forecasts, including participating in strategic discussions on event assumptions with senior business management. As needed, the senior manager will support NY and Chicago based concerts in budget preparations and settlements. What will you do? • Prepare detailed labor & cost estimates for MSG Sphere Las Vegas concert residencies and NY and Chicago special events business. This includes being proficient and well versed in union rules and rate card rent for use by MSG Live Booking department executives to negotiate deals with clients. • The Sr. Manager is responsible for tracking event costs, reviewing contracts, conducting settlements with promoters and/or artist representatives at the night of the event, preparing P&L statements, compiling post event estimates, and reviewing the monthly reconciliation to general ledger. The Sr. Manager is also responsible for maintaining event files. • The Sr. Manager will develop financial and operational expertise for MSG Sphere and across MSG’s Venues related to labor and non-labor expenses. This will include understanding and summarizing all union agreements, work rules and applicable rate cards. The Sr. Manager will be used as a resource by the Bookers and other Finance Staff • Develop and train a Senior Financial Analyst that is be responsible for working with the MSG Live Booking Department in addition to external promotors and artists, while training them on MSG owned and operated venues and the various labor unions • Lead the preparation of annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and monthly outlooks for special events and assist with MSG Sphere concert residencies • The Sr. Manager shall provide analytical support to critical event specific and union based special projects as assigned (e.g. annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, rate card analysis, venue standards, and competitive analysis, etc.). This will include projects and reporting that cross divisions, requiring the Sr. Manager to maintain positive working relationships across the company. What do you need to succeed? • Minimum 5-7 years accounting/finance analysis experience (public and/or private). • Bachelor’s degree preferred in business/accounting or related field • Strong communication and analytical skills are required to work independently with all levels of management to accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision. • Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint are required. • Skills in computer systems used by MSG, i.e., Oracle, Hyperion, Tableau, Ticketmaster One, TM Archtics, TM Host.
