Job Summary Responsible for designing, developing, implementing and analyzing software components for Set top boxes, Smart TVs, cable modems, Android and IOS software stack. Assists in various project teams, developing test strategies, and designing best practices. Interfaces with the device software team, cloud software team and other functional areas to ensure that the most efficient solution is designed to meet business needs (well engineered, operable, maintainable and delivered on schedule). Acts as a technical expert in own area within the organization. May work independently or as part of a team on more complex projects. Provides mentoring and guidance to more junior team members. May be responsible for leading a team, but does not directly manage people. Job Description Core Responsibilities Develop high quality code. Create and/or review software architecture. Review device schematics and provide feedback to stakeholder teams. Work with stakeholder teams and SoC vendors to achieve results. Work with quality assurance team on test strategies and enabling automated testing. Lead engineering requirements for any size software module, up to a complete device. Lead design documentation creation for full devices. Coordinate development of unit tests for full device. Present requirements and design documentation to junior and senior engineers. Stay abreast of new technologies in field of expertise. Communicate and demonstrate new technologies to product and design teams. Evaluate vendor technology and provide feedback to vendors on company direction where appropriate. Research and evaluate new development tools. Provide instruction and feedback to junior engineers on code and techniques. Mentor junior engineers on software development techniques. Provide leadership by example in coding, documentation, test and attitude. Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance. Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
