Instrumentation & Controls Engineer - Intermediate

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood in Vancouver is currently recruiting for an <b> Instrumentation and Controls Engineer - Intermediate </b> to join our Mining & Minerals group <b> . </b> Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position is located at our Vancouver, BC office. If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges in a fast-paced environment, this opportunity is for you. <br><br><b> Key Responsibilities </b> <br><ul><li> Review and/or develop and take responsibility for the instrumentation and control (I&C) designs required in a detailed engineering project. Responsibility includes sealing documents as a Professional Engineer. </li><li> Select appropriate instruments and valves for process measurement and control. </li><li> Select appropriate components for control systems, communication systems and fire detection/alarm systems, and select appropriate cables and panels to complete designs. </li><li> Prepare instrument, valve and control system procurement packages, including the development and/or review of specifications, datasheets and calculations, work with vendors and review vendor documentation. </li><li> Review and/or develop deliverables that will include control system architecture and block diagrams, communication network drawings, PLC and DCS panel drawings, instrument loop diagrams, junction box wiring diagrams, fire alarm system risers and layouts, instrument indexes, I/O lists, and any others required to complete projects. </li><li> Assist in the creation and update of piping and instrument diagrams and control narratives. </li><li> Assist in the preparation of construction contracts and scope of work. </li><li> Assist in writing work plans and reports in a concise technical manner according to the applicable project specifics . </li><li> Ensure all deliverables are developed in accordance with the project requirements, applicable standards and codes, and the company's quality specifications. </li><li> Obtain measurements and collect data at job sites as required. </li><li> Work effectively within a team of I&C engineers and designers, as well as interface with other departments and project managers. </li><li> Balance and meet multiple deadlines. </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><b> Qualifications: </b> <br><ul><li> Electrical Engineering (BSc) degree. </li><li> Must be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of British Columbia, or have the ability to register as one within approximately 3 months of hire. </li><li> Minimum of 4-6 years of experience; primarily responsible for supporting I&C engineering consulting projects for mining, metallurgical or similar process industries. </li><li> Knowledge of CSA, ISA and IEEE standards including the Canadian Electrical Code, and how to apply them to designs. </li><li> Everyday use of Microsoft Word and Excel. </li><li> Database experience is considered an asset (AVEVA Instrumentation). </li><li> Team player, but also able to work independently and take responsibility. </li><li> Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required. </li></ul><br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in consulting and engineering, helping to unlock solutions to critical challenges in energy and materials markets.
