The VCR team will bring together Strategy& Deals, Operational Restructuring and Capital Projects.</p><p> </p><br /><p><b><b>About The Team</b></b></p><p><b> </b></p><p>We are the UK market leader in respect of the work we do across the public sector - as a firm and a Government & Health Industries (G&HI) Operational Restructuring practice. We sit within PwC’s Restructuring practice and have a particular focus on health, particularly the UK NHS. We also work with private and non-UK health organisations, and our work continues to grow in sectors including the MoD, central government, education, and not-for-profit.</p><p></p><p>Our work blends hands-on situational and stakeholder management skills, with functional expertise (such as business planning, cost reduction and change management) as well as industry expertise. Our aim is to support our clients to deliver financial and operational improvements with pragmatic, hands-on solutions to ensure sustained future success. We anticipate in the short-medium term that our work will also continue to support our clients to respond to, and recover from, the pandemic</p><p>This role is specifically for applicants interested in health or non-health based projects within the G&HI practice. We are looking for highly motivated people to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly successful and growing team, with excellent career progression opportunities.</p><p></p><p>This post can be based in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Watford or Reading.</p><p><b> </b></p><p><b><b>About the role</b></b></p><p><b> </b></p><p>You would work with high profile public or health sector clients in a highly rewarding environment. You need to have excellent analytical capabilities supported by strong interpersonal skills and tenacity to support the delivery of operational change and financial turnaround.</p><p></p><p>Your role will involve analysis and report writing and working with client staff in hands-on roles to develop and deliver cost improvement projects. This may involve working operationally and in clinical environments in order to identify savings, implement cost controls and be part of project managing complex programmes of work.</p><p><b> </b></p><p>You will work with our team to support a range of assignments including;</p><ul><li><p>Establishing programme management offices and supporting operations;</p></li><li><p>Developing, planning and supporting the delivery of operational improvement projects;</p></li><li><p>Developing and implementing cost control programmes;</p></li><li><p>Assessing and testing of financial positions and forecasts; </p></li><li><p>Strategic planning with business case and scenario testing.</p></li></ul><p></p><p>Our hybrid ways of working offer flexibility to our working arrangements. As changes have been made to the firm and national policies with the lifting of restrictions, it is anticipated that our working practices will continue to evolve and we will return to closer working with our clients. You will therefore need to be willing to travel and be flexible around your working location. This could require working away from your base office location on a regular basis and regular overnight stays may be required. Where possible, we will take your preferences into account and strike a balance between meeting your career development/personal needs and those of the business and our clients.</p><p><b> </b></p><p><b><b>Essential skills and experience</b></b></p><ul><li><p>Sound analytical skills (financial and non-financial), including strong use of Microsoft Excel, and ideally PowerBI;</p></li><li><p>A formal financial qualification is highly desirable but not essential (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA or equivalent);</p></li><li><p>Report writing skills, including use of Microsoft PowerPoint;</p></li><li><p>Solid interpersonal skills and comfortable communicating at different levels;</p></li><li><p>Willingness to learn about and participate in marketing and business development;</p></li><li><p>A commitment to continued personal development;</p></li><li><p>Project and time management skills;</p></li><li><p>Ability to work to tight deadlines in rapidly moving working environments;</p></li><li><p>Flexibility to work on diverse projects; and</p></li><li><p>Experience of the public or health sector or the NHS is desirable but not essential.</p></li></ul><p></p><p>You will be joining a team which will welcome your outlook and knowledge, whilst providing you with the opportunity to develop your skill set further within one of the world’s leading professional organisations.</p><p></p><p>Our team comes from a variety of backgrounds, many with hands-on experience of working in the public sector including the MoD, or from the health sector including the NHS, so we recognise that this type of work is quite new for some.
