«out the Team PetSmart’s Canadian Home Office (CHO) is home to approximately 50 full-time associates who work in departments such as Human Resources, Merchandise Buying and Pricing, Replenishment, Marketing, Finance, Space Planning and more. The small but mighty team at the CHO supports the operations of 140+ PetSmart stores in Canada and works closely with counterparts at PetSmart’s global corporate headquarters located in Phoenix, Arizona. We also share the Canadian home office with our colleagues at PetSmart Charities of Canada—an independent, registered charity dedicated to reducing pet homelessness and supporting the bond between people and pets. About the Location Hybrid Position: This position may be considered Hybrid based on PetSmart’s FlexSmart policy and business needs. A Hybrid work arrangement is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Associates with a Hybrid work arrangement have a work space at Phoenix Home Office and can be required to come onsite between 1-5 days a week as determined by leadership and based on business needs. About the Job SUMMARY The Graphic Designer (18 month temporary assignment) is responsible for the visual style and overall design framework on all new Canadian marketing programs, producing 70% new design and 30% US design modification. They will design and oversee creative projects, providing creative feedback and direction to stakeholders to maintain a high level of visual quality and branding consistency for marketing and promotional materials. This includes print (OOH, Direct mail, circular and print publications), digital (emails, web, app and social), POS collateral and store signage. Prioritizes all creative jobs and ensuring brand standards and fulfillment of all projects on time for the Canadian business. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to: Develop the overall look or style of a publication or promotion by determining which photographs, art, typography or other design elements to use. Review and approve designs, artwork, photography and graphics for quality and brand compliance (includes artwork retouching) Leverage brand assets and seasonal creative to produce new creative. Work with stakeholders to develop strategies for marketing campaigns; present and provide reasoning for creative concepts to stakeholders for approval. Review project production factors by studying schedule, background information, objectives, presentation approaches and specs. Also directly uploads artwork to vendors and does pre-press proofing. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 2-3 years of relevant experience. Bachelor’s degree in Graphic and Web Design, Interactive Design or equivalent education and experience. Experience working in an online retail environment a plus TECHNICAL SKILLS Fluent in latest Adobe Applications (In-Design, Photoshop, Illustrator). Maintain technical knowledge of file preparation and procedures Possess strong design aesthetics with type, color and page layout design Web/mobile user interface and interaction design experience.
