We are seeking a highly accomplished leader to serve in the position of Assistant Controller of OSI Systems. This individual will be in the Greater Los Angeles area and will report to the VP Corporate Controller of OSI Systems in Hawthorne, CA. He or she will have critical responsibility for the monthly financial close process, SEC filings and assist in leading the accounting and financial reporting functions of the worldwide organization. It is therefore critical that the Assistant Controller be a strong leader, as well as a solid technician in US GAAP accounting. The Company is a publicly traded global manufacturer operating in a highly technical and regulated industry. It is therefore critical that the Assistant Controller have a strong track record of success within the controllership function of a multinational organization and can serve as a true strategic partner to the VP Corporate Controller. As this role will be at a corporate level, the Assistant Controller must be able to articulate sound financial policy and internal controls while working with other senior level members of the company’s corporate accounting and management teams and the various company divisions to ensure success. The Assistant Controller will possess outstanding managerial experience and skills. With significant overseas accounting functions, a successful candidate should be able to seamlessly assist the key remote financial and accounting functions within the organization and be familiar with the technical and operational complexities of foreign operations. The Assistant Controller is expected to bring a fresh perspective blending financial and operational knowledge. It will be critical to this individual’s success that he/she has a true collaborative approach to problem-solving, be team oriented and have outstanding communication skills. Responsibilities Partner closely with divisional management and the parent company to implement, as needed, and monitor proper accounting processes and controls. Review and analyze month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial data submitted by remote controllers. Identify potential operational or accounting issues at all locations. Review and report consolidated financial data of the company. Prepare and publish SEC reports, including Form 10-Q and Form 10-K, among others. Proactively provide timely analysis and interpretation as required to communicate specific issue within the division’s operations. Monitor sources and uses of cash as well as provide balance sheet and cash flow forecasting throughout the company. Interface with internal and external auditors. Interface with Corporate: Finance, Treasury, IT and HR. Meet functional deliverables and responsibilities. Exhibit manager core competencies. Financial Reporting Monthly Close Process. Calculate and prepare interest expense entries. Annual projections and ad hoc analysis as required. Load cash flow forecasts into the company’s reporting system. Compile and publish the Executive financial package with insightful analysis and business discussion. Prepare analysis and journal entries as needed related to contingent earn out liabilities and associated accretion calculations. Schedule reviews with the VP, Corporate Controller and other executives. Working knowledge of ASC 718 equity and share based payment accounting, familiarity with Shareworks or similar share-based payment accounting software. ASC 606 revenue recognition and ASC 842 lease accounting. Research authoritative pronouncements and prepare technical accounting memoranda. Quarterly and Annual Close Processes Prepare equity roll forward schedules and analysis. Prepare statement of cash flows and analysis. Participate and coordinate the process to compile, proofread, tie-out, and publish the 10-Q/10-K. Contribute to flash reports and other internal reporting. Contribute to press releases and other external reporting. Author business narratives required for internal control purposes and coordinate the writing of similar narratives by others in the organization, including both corporate and divisional entities. Coordinate with the company’s internal audit team and external auditors. Presentations and Reporting Packages Work closely with the VP Corporate Controller and Chief Financial Officer to prepare board of director presentations and analysis. Additionally, prepare presentation for company off-sites. Prepare / contribute to presentations to investors / market analysts. Leadership and Communication Collaborate with financial reporting analysts who are responsible for multiple monthly reports, analysis and business narratives. Advise senior management regarding cash flow / forecasts, borrowing, interest expense, and other relevant topics. Organize, schedule and coordinate the activities of colleagues and indirect reports to ensure monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close process are completed on time, and the required SEC disclosures are prepared in a highly accurate and timely manner. Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business. Qualifications B.S. Degree in related field; CPA required. Master’s Degree a plus. Broad accounting and financial management background with at least 12 years of commensurate experience. Relevant work experience including significant leadership roles in public accounting and within public company accounting functions. Experience in a growth-oriented, multi-national, manufacturing and sales organization. Global perspective and international experience, including the ability to work effectively across a complex global financial footprint. Multi-cultural sensitivity: the ability to thrive across the globe and manage talented professional from diverse geographies and cultures. Experience in manufacturing or healthcare equipment industry is desirable. Professional certifications will distinguish a candidate. Public company and SEC reporting experience is preferred. Merger and acquisition (M&A) experience is preferred, including financial modeling, due diligence and business integration. Experience working with a multi-location organization, including meaningful international work experience is highly desirable. Experience with foreign exchange transactions, hedging and planning is a plus. Experience using Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) of Financial Close and Consolidation (FCC), Microsoft Dynamics 365, and Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Candidates must have strong PowerPoint skills and the demonstrated ability to present insightful business discussions to executives.
