Respiratory Therapist Critical - Emergency Care Center - North Port

Þpartment Respiratory Care Services_NPA Job Summary Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates therapeutic respiratory care to patients requiring critical care services for the diagnosis, treatment, assessment and evaluation of acute and chronic episodes of cardio-pulmonary disease. Primary therapeutic modalities include airway management, blood gas sampling, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, and administration of pharmacological agents to the tracheo-broncial tree, complete ventilator management, and participation in hemodynamic monitoring. With Pulmonary Council and department approval, performs elective and emergency intubations under the direction of the Team Leader or Specialist, inserting of arterial lines. A RRT may accept verbal and phone orders from physicians as defined by policy. Consultation is provided to physicians, nurse patients, families, and other clinical professional staff. A RRT may initiate therapy based on department Patient Care Protocols. Additional responsibilities: NICU approved therapists with department and neonatologist approval assists at deliveries, performs intubations, capillary blood sampling, and analysis. Functions as an integral member of the Critical Care staff or other R.C. Support Services who delivers routine and advanced cardiopulmonary support to patients. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development and possess ability to assess, interact, communicate and care for specific patient populations. Required Qualifications - Require an active State of Florida licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) under Florida Statutes, Chapter 468. Preferred Qualifications - Prefer demonstrated ability to work and plan with others in a team setting while being creative and time effective. Required License and Certs BLS: Basic Life Support/CPR
