Senior Estimating Specialist

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood plc currently have a career opportunity for a <b>Senior Estimating Specialist </b>with experience in cost estimating Transmission Lines, Substations and Distribution projects. Reporting to the Estimating Manager, this position is located in our Vancouver, BC office. This role has overall responsibility for supervising capital cost estimates for the Power Solutions Business projects, from conceptual to detail design. If you have a successful track record, thrive on challenges in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to manage the estimating process for several estimates at the same time then this opportunity is for you. <br><br> <b> Key Responsibilities </b> <br><ul><li> Preparing Class 1 through Class 5 capital cost estimates in accordance with industry, client and Wood standards </li><li> Developing capital costs for labour, materials, equipment, consumables, construction equipment, construction indirect costs, contingency, escalation, etc </li><li> Managing and improving the cost estimating process, procedures and tools to efficiently deliver capital cost estimates </li><li> Overseeing technical performance for the Power Solutions estimating program </li><li> Mentoring, coaching, directing training initiatives for small estimating team </li><li> Assist in managing workload in coordination with engineering department and project management </li><li> Reviewing cost estimates prepared by estimating team and third parties for accuracy and reasonableness </li><li> Performing reconciliation exercises and providing recommendations </li><li> Developing, maintaining and updating the estimating database in terms of material price, labour man-hours and other reference materials </li><li> Communicating, consulting, and liaising with staff, engineers, clients, suppliers, contractors and subcontractors </li><li> Build and maintain strong relationships with key client personnel </li><li> Successfully working under deadline pressures in an efficient and effective manner </li><li> Build and maintain technical expertise, including familiarity with latest construction methods </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><ul><li> A minimum of 20 years experience in estimating capital costs for power transmission, substation and distribution projects </li><li> Sound knowledge of construction processes with knowledge of a wide variety of electrical equipment and methods of installation </li><li> Knowledge of the industrial pricing environment within the electrical construction industry with a qualification in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent technical background would be considered an asset </li><li> Excellent verbal and written communication, mentoring, coaching and collaboration skills </li><li> Proficient in Microsoft Office and computerized estimating programs </li><li> Strong organizational, leadership, interpersonal and client relationship skills </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in consulting and engineering, helping to unlock solutions to critical challenges in energy and materials markets.
