Senior Director Actuary

*** This is a hybrid SWFL based position working remotely 3-4 days per week and onsite the remainder of the week *** This Senior Director Actuary reports to the VP Accounting – Assistant Controller. This role is responsible for preparation of the quarterly actuarial reserving and annual ratemaking processes associated with Hertz Global Self Insurance programs with the support of actuarial staff. The position requires the ability to work independently and provide support and guidance to the VP on all resulting analyses, as well as the coaching / development of staff. The role also requires the coordination of all corporate financial, Sarbanes-Oxley, and external audit reporting requirements The position will identify and develop cost reduction measures for the operational risk associated within these programs. The ability to synthesize traditional statistical and actuarial data and techniques to evaluate inherent rental population risk and/or revenue generation opportunities is key to this role. The position will also have exposure to the CAO, VP of Finance, Corporate Controller, Global Risk Business Partners, and Operational Management so it will require the ability to represent complex concepts in internal presentations. What you will do: · “Hands-on” management of the actuarial analysis process through the supervision and review of individual program analyses produced by actuarial analysts. · Identify, model, and monitor key indicators and metrics for review with respective stakeholders to support the reasonableness of actuarial results. · Coordinate all related actuarial reporting and audit requirements in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley controls. · Provide support for sound balance sheet reserve adjustments by preparing meaningful reporting for senior management. · Compile detailed risk analytics through the use of query tools, such as Sequel, on the data warehouse, claim system, and other internal/external resources to identify risk and profitability issues within the rental population and recommend cost savings measures to the rental operation. · Development of regular reporting to the rental operations for help in monitoring risk and any implemented cost savings recommendations. Interact with operations management to ensure understanding. · Assist in the development and implementation of a Global Risk Dashboard. Educational Background: · Four-year college degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, or related field · ACAS Credentials Professional Experience: · 5+Years of experience · Reserving / Ratemaking in a non-insurance carrier environment is preferable; otherwise experience should be with a property/casualty insurance company. · Development of actuarial and risk assessment initiatives through data modeling. · Insurance Industry analysis and submission documentation Knowledge: · Deep understanding of actuarial and statistical concepts · Reserving and Rate Making · Data Query Design · Insurance Underwriting · Data systems and Reporting Skills: · Analytical skills, Complex problem solving and critical thinking · Oral and Written communication · Organization Skills · Time Management At Hertz, we champion and celebrate a culture of diversity and inclusion.
