Site Name: UK - London - Brentford, USA - Pennsylvania - Upper Providence Posted Date: Jan 13 2023 Company Details We have an exciting opportunity to work in a fast paced, high performing cross-functional team as Global Medical Affairs Director for Antibiotics GSK have an antibiotic in Phase 3 development, under a license agreement between GSK and Spero Therapeutics. The asset is an oral carbapenem antibiotic, in development for the treatment of complicated Urinary Tract Infections (cUTI). Carbapenems are one of the broadest-spectrum classes of antibiotic available. If approved, the asset will address a high unmet need caused by rising levels of antibiotic resistance and limited oral treatment options for cUTI. Of the 3.3 million diagnosed cases of cUTI each year in the US, approximately 12% are multi-drug resistant to the three oral drug classes available (cephalosporins, fluoroquinolones and TMP-SMX) and are likely to receive IV therapy This is an exciting and pivotal time to be joining the team. A well-executed medical affairs strategy will be critical in helping improve outcomes for patients, including providing medical input and insights into the Phase 3 program and developing a comprehensive evidence generation plan with VEO, which GSK is accountable for. The Global Medical Affairs Director will play a key role in developing and implementing strategy, in close collaboration with markets. To support our continuing stream of product launches and global medical affairs activities, we are looking to appoint a Global Medical Affairs Director, reporting to the Global Medical Affairs Lead for Antibiotics. Job Purpose Drives opportunities to gather external and internal insights to shape our understanding of customer needs and evidence generation gaps. Translates current and emerging evidence into content of value for internal and external audiences Collaborates with R&D, country teams and other key cross-functional stakeholders to help shape and execute the medical affairs and launch plan and inform the Phase 3 plan Develops a strong external network of global experts in complicated urinary tract infection. Drives development and execution of several global medical affairs strategies. Key Responsibilities Partners with above-country and country colleagues to drive, integrate and prioritise insights to inform global medical affairs plans and life cycle strategy. Engages with R&D, VEO, other disciplines, and country teams to identify evidence generation needs. Ensures country medical affairs colleagues have a robust knowledge of the relevant and emerging clinical evidence, supporting their training by creating high quality scientific engagement materials for both internal and external use. Develops external scientific communication content on complicated urinary tract infection using innovative and diverse channels of communication. Partnering with commercial colleagues to develop brand campaigns and support launch. Developing and approving promotional, non-promotional and training materials. Partners with key countries to help implement scientific communication strategy and launches, including reviewing and optimising local medical affairs plans and sharing learning/ best practice/ intelligence. Drives excellence in external engagement with key stakeholders (e.g. HCP’s, Patients, Payors and Regulators) globally and in partnership with key countries. Ensures appropriate medical governance oversight of all deliverables. Reviewing local GSK-sponsored and Investigator Sponsored Study (ISS) proposals to assess their scientific merit and strategic need. Develops deep subject matter expertise on the product and therapy area Qualifications: MD / MBBS or PharmD or PhD with considerable experience in Medical Affairs including pre/peri launch. Antibiotics experience Country specific medical affairs launch experience Previous regional/global experience Robust understanding of internal (where applicable) and external promotional codes of practice and regulations Demonstrated matrix leadership in previous roles including leadership of complex projects Key Attributes Proactive mindset Passion for strategy development and tactical delivery Strong skills in managing multiple projects simultaneously with an ability to prioritise appropriately Track record of building strong internal and external networks.
