Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing? The following is a schedule for the first year of joining: Within 1 month of employment, become competent with VMware’s rules, guidelines and standard operating procedures, also start to understand the product/service. Within 3 months of employment, learn the product and be familiar with technology stack and processes used in the team. You will be regularly contributing to Sprint work. Within 6 months of employment, work towards becoming competent on assigned areas of development. Within 1 year of employment, work towards becoming SME on critical areas of product. The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis? As a Developer, you will be responsible for: Working within a distributed team to design, implement and integrate new and enhanced features with the highest possible quality. Produce high quality, well-documented code. Participate and influence code reviews, design reviews for robust and scalable products. Work with architects and across engineering teams. Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle as part of a full stack Scrum team. Provide detailed scheduled estimates for development efforts. Owning quality of software components deployed in SAAS environments. This includes: Taking responsibility for the specification, design, implementation, testing and deployment of key product features Writing well-documented, high performance, reliable, maintainable Java code. Play a significant role in design and code reviews with a major focus on modularity, performance, Security, scalability and future expansion. Develop unit, component, Integration tests for the features you develop Understanding how customers use our platform and ensure all the use cases are tested before deploying to various environments. Adopting new technologies and best practices. JOB DESCRIPTION Experience in building a SaaS platform Design, architect, test, automate distributed, scalable, microservices based systems Extensive programming experience in one of the following languages - Java, Python Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or other cloud deployment technologies preferred You know your way around Knowledge of CI/CD platforms and tools Experience designing/building scalable REST API’s Fluent in approaches to security, concurrency, debugging, performance, scalability, supportability and quality. Ability to ramp-up quickly and contribute to a production codebase Understand non-functional implications to design like security, data migration, deployment, etc. Experience with security and authentication technologies and networking protocols that relate to distributed computing is an advantage. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, attention to detail. Able to demonstrate effective teamwork both within the immediate team and across teams. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. A strong desire and ability to mentor and encourage team members. Flexibility and adaptability to be able to change direction quickly to meet the dynamic needs of the business. What is the leadership like for this role?
