The Mount Sinai Health System’s Department of Psychiatry seeks a Research Director for the new Mount Sinai Behavioral Health Center in downtown Manhattan! The Icahn School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry is a vibrant community of clinicians, researchers, educators, and trainees committed to discovering the causes of, and better treatments for, mental illness and substance use disorders. The Mount Sinai Behavioral Health service line encompasses the clinical psychiatric services at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai Morningside, Mount Sinai West, Mount Sinai Queens and the new Rivington Behavioral Health Center. Purpose of Position: Lead, facilitate and coordinate research at the new stand-alone Mount Sinai Behavioral Health Center (MSBHC) in downtown Manhattan – in coordination with the Vice-chair of Psychiatry at the MSBHC and the System Chair of Psychiatry at ISMMS. The Mount Sinai Behavioral Health Center is a new transformational, state-of-the-art, community-oriented facility for behavioral health with integrated services for mental health, substance abuse, physical health, and social service needs. Launching in mid-2023, the Center’s new clinical and operational model of care is designed to address longstanding issues in the mental health system and includes a commitment to fostering breakthrough clinical research. The center will deliver outstanding patient care and conduct innovative clinical studies from the nationally acclaimed experts of the Mount Sinai Health System, informed by the pioneering research and biomedical advances of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. In addition, lead a lab in neuroimaging with a focus on schizophrenia, obtain independent grant funding and write scientific papers in major journals. Supervise and mentor junior faculty and post-doctoral trainees. Specific Job Responsibilities: • Provide innovative research leadership at MSBHC • Attract and retain talented researchers at MSBHC • Obtain grant funding • Publish in major scientific journals • Lead a neuroimaging lab • Supervise junior faculty • Supervise psychiatry residents • Teach medical students • Participate in Faculty Practice Specific Job Qualifications: • MD or MD/PhD degree; completion of an ACGME-accredited psychiatry residency program; and be board certified/board eligible for General Adult Psychiatry • New York State medical license • Proven leadership Qualities in the field of research • Proven leadership and productivity in neuroimaging • Proven ability to obtain independent grant funding • Experience in supervising faculty and post-docs • Excellent track record of scientific publications • Excellent clinical and psychopharmacological knowledge • Training/experience working with a student population is desired • Excellent writing skills and ability to manage responsibilities of documentation • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of individuals/groups. • Compensation range from 200,000K to 275,000K (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits) Salary Disclosure Information: Mount Sinai Health System provides a salary range to comply with the New York City law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements.
