Job Description We are a part of S&P Global's Markit Intelligence team that provides global pricing and reference data, indices and information services across multiple asset classes. Customers throughout the financial services industry leverage our Information products and services for independent valuations and to support research and analysis, risk management, regulatory reporting and trading. We provide financial pricing data and tools for bonds, CDS and loans, as well as fair value data, equity volatility data and securities lending data for stocks and bonds. Our service delivers detailed liquidity metrics and transparent information about pricing sources and methodologies, with flexible delivery options tailored to the needs of our clients. Position summary This role will have responsibility to understand the overall architecture and an opportunity to work on developing, improving and optimizing various Fixed Income Pricing applications as per the Pricing strategic roadmap. Duties & accountabilities Implementation of financial services software using enterprise Java, DBMSs (SQL and No-SQL), AWS Cloud and modern web technologies. Work closely with analysts to gather business requirements, develop and deliver highly scalable and numerate financial applications within a highly fucntional Agile team Quickly understand system architecture and become involved in design and development, taking ownership of assigned modules to drive projects to completion. As well as delivering software of high quality, candidate needs to work towards the team’s goals of high test-coverage, automated and frequent deployment, and regular cycles of code delivery, testing and feedback. Business competencies Education and experience The right candidate will have an academic degree in software engineering or exceptional track record if the candidate has a degree in any other discipline 7+ years professional programming experience Substantial Java development experience is essential, including Object Oriented Design Patterns. Strong core Java 8 skills (with good understanding of multi threading and performance tuning) Python knowledge is good to have as it will help with quick onboarding and reduced training time. Experience on using high volume data processing and analytics technologies like Spark, Ignite etc. advantageous Experience on some of the cloud native technologies on AWS like ECS, S3, DynamoDB, MongoDB, Kinesis etc. Well versed with continuous integration and continuous delivery tools and techniques Experience with highly numeric applications advantageous The right candidate would also demonstrate solid OO programming and have strong opinions on best programming practices The ideal candidate will have a demonstrable track record actively contributing to the implementation of innovative, best-practice-based, technical solutions in a complex and challenging environment Commercial awareness Motivation to acquire/increase knowledge of the financial sector is essential An understanding of fixed income instruments is a plus but not mandatory Understanding of Capital Markets, Fixed income, Credit derivatives, Bonds and other such asset classes is desirable but not mandatory.
