<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood is recruiting Deck Crew to join our growing team in Brunei.<br><br><b> Purpose / Role </b><br><ul><li> Provide deck crew services in line with Company Procedures </li></ul><br><b> Key aims and objectives </b><br><ul><li> Ensure all work is carried out in a safe and productive manner in line with company and client procedures </li></ul><br><b> Prime responsibilities and duties </b><br><ul><li> Experienced in all types of slinging and lifting, crane lifts and can work as an effective team member in large or small groups depending on the activity. </li><li> Ability to work at height in an appropriate manner </li><li> Familiar with various lifting techniques and the use of equipment such as chain hoist, shackles, slings pendants etc. </li><li> Recognition and safe use of both manila and wire ropes wires and have the skill to make all required knots, bends and hitches. </li><li> Slinging and lifting of all types of structural steel work, Pipework and Equipment. </li><li> Attendance during loading and unloading of supply vessels. </li><li> Work in hazardous areas under 'permit to work' regulations. </li><li> An understanding of the statutory lifting regulations. </li><li> Be aware of and practice fully the requirement for total safety attitude in all operations </li><li> Be prepared to assist all other trades within his capability in the performance of operations being carried out </li><li> Prepare site for slinging and lifting operations </li><li> Conduct pre-use inspections and maintain equipment </li><li> Understanding of development of basic lifting plans </li><li> Willing to carry out additional duties like cleaning, handling of material and equipment as directed by Supervisor </li><li> Committed to Safety and Company Procedures in all tasks </li><li> Coordinate Crane Operator operations </li><li> Participate in the Lifting Plan development, implementation and review </li><li> Fully conversant in the art of crane lift and rigging/ slinging techniques and must be able to define and control all rigging and lifting classifications </li><li> Be aware of and practice in full the requirements of total safety in all operations to achieve best results at all times </li><li> Selection of correct slings and shackles for all lifts </li><li> Removal from service and destruction of any slings which require replacement </li><li> Slinging and controlling lifts by the crane in safe and efficient manner with hand signals or radio communications. </li><li> Able to determine suitable slinging methods and implementing the task to safely and effectively position all pipework equipment etc. </li><li> Responsible for ensuring that all lifting accessories are properly maintained, inspected and that all certification is current prior to use. </li><li> Must have a good working understanding of the statutory lifting regulations </li><li> Support Nationalisation Programme and development of local personnel </li><li> Ensure Risk Assessment and Tool Box Talks are completed and implemented at the start of each shift. </li></ul><br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br> Qualifications and Training: <br><br>Essential: <br><ul><li> Appropriate documented evidence confirming the trade </li><li> Testimonials </li><li> Verifiable evidence - CV </li><li> BOSIET/Approved Offshore Medical </li><li> Banksman Slinger </li><li> Banksman Level 2 </li><li> W@H & Harness Training </li><li> MIST/IMIST </li></ul><br> Desirable: <br><ul><li> Loler Awareness </li><li> S.S.O.W. / Permit Vision </li><li> Wood mandatory training, induction, risk awareness, etc </li><li> Manual Handling </li></ul><br><b> Experience </b><br><br><b> Essential: </b><br><ul><li> Must have a minimum of 3 years Deck crew rigging experience onboard fixed platforms and floating vessels. He or she should be fit, able to work at heights. </li></ul><br><b> Desirable: </b> <br><ul><li> Demonstrable more than 5 years' experience offshore </li><li> Preferably a Bruneian </li></ul><br><b> Personal qualities, aptitudes and skills </b> <br><ul><li> Ability to communicate effectively with team members and provide direction to ensure subordinate staff comply with operating manual and relevant procedures </li><li> Flexible - able to comply with company and client requirements </li><li> Ability to work with other disciplines </li><li> Confident - ability to work unsupervised in execution of task </li><li> Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment </li><li> Has a desire to learn and develop within the role and also develop others as part of nationalisation programme </li></ul><br><b> Competencies - generic </b><br><ul><li> Possesses an understanding in spoken and written English </li><li> Possesses a good understanding of safe working practises, policies and regulations and can demonstrate commitment to safe working at all times </li><li> Comply with operational and safety manuals and procedures </li></ul><br><b> Competencies - technical </b><br><ul><li> He must be familiar with the correct way to attach bulldog clips and other fittings to wire ropes. </li><li> He should be familiar with mooring operations and the rigging requirement regarding handling anchors, pendant buoys and wires. </li><li> Can demonstrate a high standard in completion of tasks associated with the role of Rigger as defined in associated job specification. </li><li> Ability to recognise change </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
