As a Federal-aligned Staff Consulting Architect within the Transformation Consulting (TC) business, you will have the opportunity to lead VMware’s largest and most complex enterprise customers, helping them to deliver on their mission outcomes. You will be a leader to our project teams, ensuring the end-to-end customer solution and enterprise architecture across all technology areas is delivered. Technically, you will be a solution level subject matter expert with broad knowledge across the VMware technology stack and 3rd party integrated products. You will leverage your deep technical expertise in VMware products to deliver holistic solutions to complex customer challenges and help drive an improved customer experience. Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing? Within your first 6 to 12 months, you will be expected to meet the following performance outcomes: Lead our largest and most complex customer projects and teams in Federal space, providing overall solutions and enterprise architecture across the complete VMware technology stack. Develop trusted advisor relationships with customers, as demonstrated by the ability to design/develop effective solutions, educate customers on viable options and gain consensus across the customer organization and within VMware. Develop and lead best practice initiatives to develop our internal practice community, including artifacts, tools, processes, coaching and mentoring. Document and publish solution-based reference architectures. Lead pre-sales engagements and technical reviews for our largest and most complex accounts in the Federal vertical. Establish a global network of significant influence across our direct and indirect business lines including our product BUs for the purpose of improving our products, developing new services and resolving delivery issues. Achieve business outcomes by leading and collaborating with a wider project team or independently act as the overall solution technical lead. Take ownership and accountability for deliverables. Mentor other team members and provide them with technical and consultative guidance as needed. Possess VMware certifications and demonstrate knowledge of TOGAF-based enterprise architecture concepts. *** TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required for this role *** The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis? As a Staff Consulting Architect, success in this role will be built on your ability to: Lead technical projects related to consulting, designing and implementing end to end solutions. Articulate solution design, integrating both technical and business requirements. Lead enterprise architecture activities bringing together customers business goals and IT strategies and change programs, while gaining consensus from customer technical stakeholders on program direction. Maintain expert level technical knowledge of the entire VMware portfolio and future products, with a focus on understanding interoperability of VMware products, solutions, and leading 3rd party industry products. Communicate effectively with customers at C-level and senior executive level stakeholders and technical leaders. Work with project manager on project budget, resource planning and all aspects of efficient large program/project delivery. Manage customer and internal escalations, collaborate with VMware support and engineering teams as needed to resolve product and customer issues. Create intellectual property and high-level enterprise solutions designs while functioning as a resource for “Best Practices” and driving adoption of VMware solutions. Develop and maintain senior-level relationships with various stakeholders across VMware Professional Services, Product Management, Engineering, Global Support and other organizations. Solicit continuous feedback from multiple stakeholders and effectively communicate to product development Lead in the development of our consulting service offerings as well as developing white papers and best practices. Leading, defining and building our architecture community, including documentation, training and enablement. Supporting Architects and Consultants at the GEH and TC-AMER level. Leader for other Architects and their development, coaching and mentoring others. Lead pre-sales support on large or complex technology deals, guiding sales, services and clients toward holistic solutions versus ad hoc or non-strategic services. Regularly present at internal and public events, including internal Practice Meetings, Tech Summits and other conferences. What is the leadership like for this role? Where is this role located? Flexible: This role does not require routine appearance at any VMware office location.
