In Vivo Toxicologist

Overview Provide scientific recommendations on regulatory toxicology or safety testing for a fortune 200 company with some of the most iconic brands! Have a degree in Toxicology or related field? Experience in nonclinical studies and ready to apply your expertise to solve real-world toxicology challenges? If so, we want to speak with you! We are selectively recruiting for an In Vivo Toxicologist to join our Biological Sciences Insights group in Richmond, VA, or we are open to remote work arrangements. The selected candidate will apply their scientific expertise in nonclinical toxicology program, to support the development and marketing of company’s portfolio of reduced-risk tobacco and nicotine products. What you will be doing: • Subject Matter Expert in nonclinical toxicology – especially of in vivo studies, providing scientific recommendations on regulatory toxicology or safety testing as part of toxicological risk assessment for potential reduced-risk (RR) tobacco products. • Test materials are diverse (individual chemicals, mixtures; aerosols or extracts) with various exposure regimens for in vivo studies (oral dosing to inhalation). Scope the study to fill the data gap with external testing partners. • Prepare the statement of work (SOW), solicit proposals, and execute both the standardized (e.g., OECD) and mechanistic (e.g., disease progression) toxicity studies. • Study Sponsor on externally executed in vivo toxicity studies; design, monitor, interpret and reporting for internal communication and regulatory submission. • Identify and qualify external CROs; Scope and manage project to proactively meet timeline and budget, and ensure Quality and Data Integrity in GLP and non-GLP studies • Occasional travel (10-20%) to CROs such as for lab selection, inspection, or study monitoring. • Proactively engage with external scientific communities; represent the company via external presentations and peer-review publications • Monitor and keep abreast of toxicology-related fields in the next generation Tox21 testing and application What we want you to have: • Bachelor's degree required with 5+ years of experiences in Toxicology or related field. Advanced degree or DABT is a plus. • Experience (e.g., study director, study monitor, principal investigator) in conducting nonclinical toxicity studies using various test systems. Hands-on experiences in the conduct of regulatory in vivo study are highly desirable. • Proven records on interpreting in vitro or in vivo endpoints (e.g., test article characterization, genotoxicity, histopathology, systems toxicology). Experiences on the use of toxicity testing in support of risk assessment is a plus. • Hands-on experiences in in vivo toxicity testing of tobacco products (e.g., cigarette; tobacco-heat-products; smokeless products, or oral nicotine pouches) is desirable. • Excellent project management skill, attention to details, and analytical reasoning skills; Effective communication is a must, written and spoken, to diverse audience (technical and non-technical). • Ability to work with minimum supervision and multi-task in a fast-paced environment • A strong teammate with effective interpersonal skills; seek feedbacks to implement.
