Structural Designer

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Structural Designer. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position is located in our Vancouver, BC office. This role has overall responsibility for providing support on a wide variety of projects within the Mining and Minerals business unit. This situation is subject to change and is dependent on project requirements, office plans, and Wood policy changes. <br><br> <b> <br>Key Responsibilities: </b> <br><ul><li> Provide structural design, 3D modeling and drafting support on greenfield and brownfield projects </li><li> Prepare drawings for structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and/or wood structures using primarily Aveva E3D/PDMS and/or AutoCAD. </li><li> Reviewing project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation against project standards and specifications. </li><li> Prepare MTOs for project estimates. </li><li> Review Vendor shop drawings. </li><li> Checking work prepared by other Structural Designers. </li><li> Coordinate and work with project team members across all disciplines </li><li> Mentor and provide guidance to junior designers </li><li> Other responsibilities as assigned by senior engineering or design staff </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><ul><li> Technical diploma with experience in structural design and drafting </li><li> Minimum of 5 years of design experience in structural and/or architectural design </li><li> 3D Design / drafting experience with advanced skills primarily using AVEVA E3D/PDMS </li><li> Solid understanding of structural and architectural engineering aspects of light to heavy industrial projects </li><li> Experience working on mining and/or heavy industrial projects </li><li> Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks </li><li> Effective communication skills </li><li> Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment </li><li> Experience with Microsoft Office suite of software </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
