<p>We’re looking for an <strong>Engineering Manager </strong>to join our growing team.</p>
<p><strong>About the Role</strong></p>
<p>As an Engineering Manager, you'll be <strong>supporting a group of developers in their technical and personal development</strong>, as well as hands on helping the team deliver. You will act as their primary point of contact, providing regular feedback and guidance.</p>
<p>Engineering Managers also take part in a range of activities to improve the wider department, including recruitment, mentoring and evolving our development practices.</p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>You’re passionate about building teams that have the right balance of product delivery and technical maintenance, you’ll help decide the team's prioritisation of work to ensure they stay effective and engaged</li>
<li>You’ll communicate your team’s goals and vision and how this relates to the wider organisation, ensuring the team collaborates with stakeholders to understand what the right goals are and how they can be achieved</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>About You</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>You’re an experienced developer with a variety of domains and technologies, you’ll also have team management experience</li>
<li>You need to care deeply about the developers you manage, coaching them on areas for development, celebrating their achievements and recognising their strengths</li>

<p><strong>We strive for transparency in remuneration. The salary for new Engineering Managers at The Guardian is £100,000 per annum</strong>.</p>
<p><strong><u>Flexible working</u></strong></p>
<p>We are a remote-friendly company.</p>
<p>We see real value in face-to-face collaboration and we also understand the benefits of working remotely and the flexibility this offers.</p>
<p>In particular, we want to build diverse and inclusive teams, where everyone can do their best work.</p>
<p>Different roles carry different expectations, and for the role for which you’re applying, we’d typically expect to see you in the office, <strong>on average, one day per week</strong>. If you want to come in a lot more than that, that’s great too. </p>
<p>We also support a variety of flexible working requests.</p>

<li>Generous pension scheme; if you contribute 5% then the Guardian will contribute 8-12% (depending on your age)</li>
