<p>Undaunted, previously known as the Centre for Climate Change Innovation (CCCI), is Imperial College London’s flagship climate innovation activity, delivered in partnership with the Royal Institution and several other members and sponsors. Undaunted is stimulating the pipeline of climate innovation businesses in London and supporting them to establish, grow and scale up to deliver positive impact in the UK and around the world.</p>
<p>The Greenhouse accelerator programme is at the heart of Undaunted and offers world-class innovation support that includes team formulation, incubation, mentoring, entrepreneurial education, business coaching, funding and the integration of these value creation activities with the wider UK cleantech ecosystem. The programme currently supports 15 teams per cohort, with two cohorts per year. The Head of The Greenhouse – Undaunted will provide expert independent guidance and advice to deliver all accelerator activities.</p>
<p>We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual with business, investment or start up experience and a passion for tackling climate change through innovation. You will have the skills and ability to continue to deliver The Greenhouse programme and also have the responsibility to explore strategies that help ensure long-term financial security for The Greenhouse, alongside the Project Director – Undaunted. Additional duties will include providing high-level strategic thinking, advisory, analytical and planning support to the Project Director – Undaunted, and be an ambassador for Undaunted, through public engagement. </p>
<p><b>Duties and responsibilities</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Develop and deliver a robust 3+ year strategy to maintain the status of The Greenhouse as London’s premier pre-seed climate innovation programme, implementing ideas for growth and development</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Recruit, mentor and manage a portfolio approximately 30 start-ups per annum. This will involve attracting and identifying high-quality start-up opportunities from the ecosystem, as well as leading, co-ordinating, and liaising with an independent selection advisory panel (from the Venture Capital industry) to select the teams</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Plan and execute high-profile flagship events with the external cleantech ecosystem and take an active role at UK and European cleantech entrepreneurship events, conferences, and festivals</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Explore strategies that help ensure long-term financial security for The Greenhouse, alongside the Director – Undaunted. Preliminary ideas that have started to be explored include further grant funding (principally to replace the ERDF portion of the funding, which ends in 2023), a ‘Follow-On Fund’, a Founder’s Pledge, and other ideas</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Devise, plan and implement short and long-term strategies, and new ideas and approaches, in collaboration with the Director - Undaunted, for the development and direction of The Greenhouse Programme, partner and research objectives, which support and develop the long -term sustainability of The Greenhouse Programme.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Essential requirements</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Direct experience of managing or working with start-up businesses and knowledge of the success factors of early-stage growth</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>All round programme and project management skills, ideally with experience of managing a variety of diverse projects</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Understanding of how to deliver and manage effective business coaching and mentoring support activities to multiple start-ups</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Detailed knowledge of the different components and remits of London’s cleantech ecosystem stakeholders including innovation support agencies and funding streams</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>First class commercial, entrepreneurial and business development skills at all levels with the ability to educate others to a high standard</li>
</ul>
