Electrical Designer

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a <b> Electrical Designer in Trail, BC </b>. <br><br>Reporting to the Engineering Department Manager, this position is located in our Trail, BC office. This role has responsibility for providing Electrical Design support on a wide variety of projects for clients in mining, power generation, and other heavy industries. <br><br>If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges in a fast-paced environment, this is the opportunity for you. <br><br>Our Trail office currently numbers over 50 engineers, designers, and support personnel. Trail, located in Southeastern British Columbia near the cities of Rossland, Nelson, and Castlegar, is an affordable family-oriented community of approximately 10,000 people. The area offers excellent education and health care facilities, as well as access to world-class skiing at Red Mountain, hiking, boating, fishing, hunting, golf and all outdoor activities available in the Kootenays. The Wood Trail office is currently offering a hybrid working environment, with your work week split between attending the Wood Office and working from home. This situation is subject to change and is dependent on project requirements, office plans, and Wood policy changes. <br><br><b>Key Responsibilities</b> <br><ul><li> Implement project CAD procedures and guideline </li><li> Complete Design/Drafting for Electrical packages which will include cable tray layout, lighting and grounding design using CAD and 3D modelling software </li><li> Creation of design calculations which include voltage drop, lighting levels, cable tray fill and heat trace wattage. </li><li> Populating electrical load and cable lists. </li><li> Responsible for electrical CAD drawings, checks and the overall presentation and layout </li><li> Co-ordination of drawing packages for issue and prepare issue folders for electronic files </li><li> Develop and enhance project CAD systems </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><ul><li> Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology </li><li> Experience in cable tray, lighting, fire alarm, small power and schematic diagram development for heavy industrial applications </li><li> Minimum of 3 - 10 years' experience in light to heavy industry </li><li> Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment </li><li> Ability to work in both design office and operating plant environments </li><li> Expertise using AutoCAD and working knowledge of 3D design/drafting software </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
