Structural Engineer-In-Training (EIT)

We recognize that each of us has many different diverse traits which shape our view of the world, our perspective and our approach. <br><br><b> Key Responsibilities: </b><br><br><b> Under the supervision of a P.Eng. : </b><br><ul><li> Preparation of detailed engineering designs for steel and concrete structures </li><li> Perform structural analysis using SAP2000, RISA3D, SAFE, Excel, MathCAD and other engineering tools </li><li> Prepare calculation reports to support analysis and design </li><li> Interact with multi-discipline engineering teams. </li><li> Demonstrate understanding of and work to discipline specific procedures. </li><li> Actively progress through the requirements to achieve Professional Engineer status in the relevant province (i.e., APEGA in Alberta) </li><li> Showing an enthusiasm to learn. </li><li> Executing assigned personal objectives. </li><li> Executing assigned work tasks. </li><li> Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate across the project / client interfaces. </li><li> Engage with inter-discipline community. </li><li> Establishing an awareness of external stakeholders including: industry bodies, academia, vendors, client interface (as appropriate and requested). </li></ul><br><b> Subject Matter Expertise: </b><br><ul><li> Demonstrates an increasing level of knowledge of regulatory framework and associated legislation. </li><li> Progressively demonstrates an increasing level of competence in own discipline in the execution of assigned tasks. </li><li> Progressively demonstrates an increasing level of knowledge of industry and technology development within discipline area. </li><li> Ability to communicate well at all levels. </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><b> Minimum Qualifications: </b><br><ul><li> Registered wtih APEGA as an Engineer-in-Training </li><li> BSc, BEng or equivalent with some relevant experience. </li><li> Legal authorization to work in Canada </li></ul><br><b> Role-Specific Skills: </b><br><ul><li> Intellectually capable, demonstrates the application of theory in a practical context. </li><li> Professional demeanor, interpersonal skills. </li><li> Able to demonstrate a level of team working skills. </li><li> Problem solver that is curious in their approach with the capacity to grow and develop. </li><li> Confidence to ask questions, seek help, make decisions and challenge the norm. </li><li> Demonstrates integrity, honesty and humility and is able to progressively demonstrate application in work execution. </li><li> Interacts with team members in a positive and professional manner at all times. </li><li> Proactive self-starter that is driven to succeed with a positive attitude. </li><li> Flexible, adaptable and open minded. </li><li> Progressively demonstrates an increasing level of competence in the application of standards, processes and procedures and how they are used in work execution. </li><li> Previous work experience in structural design, including internship is considered an asset, preferably with an EPC. </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
