<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood in Saskatoon is currently recruiting for an <b> Electrical Designer - Intermediate </b> to join our Mining & Minerals group <b> . </b> <br><br><b>Come be your very best YOU at Wood.</b><br><br>Wood is one of Canada's longest standing engineering firms with roots dating back to 1907 with a presence in Saskatchewan for over 60 years - The Saskatoon office is the Potash Centre of Excellence and leaders in uranium, lithium and other base metals with multi-discipline expertise leading sustaining capital and all phases of projects from concept studies up to large scale EPCM projects.<br><b>Come join the elite Wood team!!</b><br><br><b>Why Wood - you ask ?</b> It's an opportunity to:<br><ul><li>Join the Potash Centre of Excellence - working with, learning from and becoming world-class experts!</li><li>Grow YOUR career with a team that truly cares about your personal development and advancement.</li><li>Enjoy Hybrid / Flexible working options</li><li>Work on challenging, innovative and sustainable solutions for potash, lithium, uranium and base metal projects</li><li>Collaborate with our national & global mining teams</li><li>Work on projects abroad - we offices are in 30 countries worldwide</li><li>Enjoy a competitive benefits package that includes: progressive matching RRSP's, medical, dental, parental leave, employee / family assistance / mental wellness programs, among many others)</li></ul><br> <b> Key Responsibilities: </b> <br><br>Reporting to the Project Electrical Lead, the successful applicant will be responsible to: <br><br><ul><li> Complete design and drafting for Electrical packages such as cable tray layout, lighting and receptacle layouts, electrical room and substation layouts, single line diagrams and motor control schematic and wiring diagrams. </li><li> Creation of design calculations such as voltage drop, lighting levels, cable tray fill and heat trace requirements. </li><li> Select appropriate electrical materials to complete designs such as lighting fixtures, cables, panels and control stations. </li><li> Review vendor data for equipment and apply it to electrical design. </li><li> Obtain measurements and collect data at job sites as required. </li><li> Estimate material quantities and cable lengths. </li><li> Interface with other departments to create a project 3D model and create reference 2D backgrounds from the model. </li><li> Create, provide input to, and check lists such as cable schedules, equipment lists and load lists. </li><li> Follow Project CAD procedures to prepare drawings, preform drafting checks and ensure acceptable overall layout and presentation of finished drawings. </li><li> Work with senior engineers to develop designs and mentor junior staff. </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><ul><li> Graduate of an Electrical Engineering Technology program, or of a related Design / Drafting (CAD) program with relevant experience in electrical design. </li><li> Registered as an Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T.) with Technology Professionals Saskatchewan is preferred. </li><li> Minimum 4 years experience in electrical design for mining, metallurgical or similar process industries. </li><li> Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and how to apply it in designs. </li><li> Proven expertise using AutoCAD and 3D design / drafting, preferably AutoCAD 3D and AVEVA E3D . </li><li> Everyday use of Microsoft Word and Excel. </li><li> Experience with databases is beneficial, preferably AVEVA AE. </li><li> Effective verbal and written communication skills . </li><li> Team player, but also able to work independently and take responsibility. </li><li> Able to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks in a highly scheduled environment. </li><li> Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required . </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
