Senior Cable System Design Engineer

<b> Overview / Responsibilities </b><br><br>Wood are seeking a Senior Cable System Design Engineer for their Power Solutions business. The role can be based at home or in one of our UK offices. <br><br><b> Purpose of the Position: </b><br><ul><li> Deliver drawings, documents, and other design deliverables in accordance with engineering procedures, guidance notes and training </li><li> Assist the Lead Engineer in overall scheme design delivery, construction support and design management </li><li> Development of skills and knowledge, and support others, in line with business needs </li><li> Support development of systems and technologies to enhance our efficiency, quality, and innovation </li></ul><br><b> Responsibilities and Duties: </b><br><ul><li> Delivery of tasks against the programme and budget as directed by the lead engineer </li><li> Delivery of tasks in accordance with <b>Wood</b>, industry and client standards and specifications </li><li> Delivery package, and potentially scheme, level management of time, cost, and resource </li><li> Checking of design deliverables in which you have a CAS level 2 score </li><li> Identification and development of personal engineering competence and where appropriate the development of others in the team </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><b> Essential: </b><br><ul><li> Formal academic engineering qualification, Degree or equivalent </li><li> Experienced in a T&D engineering environment and proven track record of scheme delivery </li><li> Knowledge of EHV and HV cable and related engineering specifications and standards, BSI, IEC, ENA </li><li> Knowledge of design and analysis for cable systems up to 400kV, including electrical, mechanical, calculation of ratings, earthing and safety considerations </li><li> Knowledge of cable construction, installation and removal techniques and temporary works </li><li> Knowledge of specifying cable systems and supporting factory acceptance of the delivered solutions </li><li> Knowledge of design and detailing of cable jointing arrangements </li><li> Knowledge of HSE and CDM regulations </li><li> Ability to perform Risk Assessments and develop mitigation strategies </li></ul><br><b> Desirable: </b><br><ul><li> Chartered (or working towards) status </li><li> OHL Industry recognised training and certification </li><li> Contracting and Consulting experience </li><li> NG and / or DNO specification knowledge </li><li> XLPE and fluid filled cable experience </li><li> Understanding of geotechnical and civil engineering aspects </li><li> Testing, inspection, and quality control experience </li><li> Chair and / or facilitate Risk Assessment and Hazid meetings </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
