Contracts Specialist

Our client, an oil and gas operator, requires a contracts specialist to join the team on a long-term contract.<br> <br> POSITION SUMMARY<br> • Manages a portfolio of high/medium, risk/value contracts pertaining to operating an offshore platform facility.<br> • Coordinate tender/sourcing activities to ensure that contracts and agreements are placed to meet business<br> requirements and support ongoing activities.<br> • Ensure that cost-effective and high performing contracts and agreements are delivered and managed in a<br> professional and ethical manner.<br> • Ensure Company is not exposed to unnecessary contractual or commercial risk.<br> • Manage the Supply Chain interface with Contractors, Suppliers, Consultants and Company in a professional and<br> ethical manner.<br> <br> MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES<br> • Champion QHSESG in all procurement activities.<br> • Manages a portfolio of high/medium, risk/value contracts pertaining to operating an offshore platform facility.<br> • Prioritise tender schedules and manage workload to meet business requirements.<br> • Leads the tendering and evaluation process and makes recommendations to management.<br> • Plan, conduct and conclude complex contract negotiations.<br> • Prepare detailed Recommendation to Award papers and presentations to review boards where required.<br> • Draft agreements using standard templates.<br> • Contract management from kick off to close out.<br> • Provide contractual advice, support and interpretation to the Operations team.<br> • Lead complex negotiations.<br> • Lead claim and dispute teams ensuring positive outcomes where applicable.<br> • Develop and implement supplier relationship performance management plans, including performance reviews and<br> identifies improvement plans for any underperforming contracts.<br> • Work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements through good communication and<br> collaboration.<br> • Build and maintain network and relationships with business and regulatory partners relevant to our operated<br> activities in the UK to secure necessary resources to achieve objectives.<br> • Monitor the external environment to identify and take advantage of immediate business opportunities to improve<br> results within defined area of responsibility.<br> <br> INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL INTERFACES<br> • Department Managers and Representatives, Logistics, Finance, Legal, QHSE and HR.<br> • Management and Representatives of Contractors/Suppliers.<br> • Industry Peers.<br> • Relevant industry organisations/bodies/authorities.<br> • Global supply chain team.<br> • Project Partner Interfaces.<br> <br> REQUIRED COMPETENCES/ QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / PROFILE<br> • Preference for degree qualification in business/management/law/QS or equivalent discipline<br> • Extensive experience in oil and gas, with relevant experience in a range of categories.<br> • Professionally qualified i.e. CIPS, RICS<br> • Significant, in-depth knowledge and experience of contracts, conditions and conventions prevalent in the UKCS arena2<br> • Demonstrable experience of tendering, awarding and managing high risk, high value contracts and procurement across a range of requirements pertaining to operating an offshore platform facility.<br> • Experienced in developing contract strategies, which have delivered overall value to the business.<br> • Competent and experienced contract negotiator.<br> • In-depth understanding of Contractor remuneration structures and their commercial implications.<br> • Managed internal and Contractor relationships at a senior level.<br> • A strong understanding of stakeholders and their interests.<br> <br> COMPETENCIES AND BEHAVIORS REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE ROLE EFFECTIVELY<br> • Commercially aware with sound business acumen<br> • Can interpret contract law and has drafted a wide variety of contract types, adapting terms to suit<br> • Understands liability, indemnity and insurance principles<br> • Ability to work pro-actively under own initiative with minimum supervision<br> • Develops a culture of commitment to achieve highest level of ethical compliance<br> • Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others<br> • Team player with good communication skills and who focuses on developing strong working relationships with all departments.<br> • Flexible and adaptable to change.<br> • Displays a professional approach and demonstrates appropriate behaviours.<br> • Strong focus on delivery, quality and overall team and contract performance.<br> • Demonstrates effective use of contract management systems and is competent in all MS office applications<br /><br />With over 90 years' combined experience, NES Fircroft (NES) is proud to be the world's leading engineering staffing provider spanning the Oil &amp;
