Director - Database Services

Overview This role will lead the Global Database Services Team for PepsiCo. This includes sustainment of database solutions, architectures, and ecosystems across on-prem Data Centers, Cloud and PaaS solutions. Key partnerships include Sector CIO, Global Functions CIO and Global Data & Analytics Platform Teams. Responsibilities Lead a cross-discipline IT Team through the capability advancement and sustainment of the Global Database Services leveraging the PepsiCo DevSecOps practice. Partner with Sector CIO, Global Functions CIO and Global Data & Analytics Platform Teams to establish platform objectives and capability requirements. Partner with the Global Enterprise Architecture Team in leading the evaluation, recommendation, and ultimate delivery of new technologies to enable the Global Database Services strategy. Enhancing the scalability and performance of existing database architecture. Developing database structures and features according to organizational needs. Hiring, supervising, and mentoring database development teams. Protecting data by developing data security and restoration policies, procedures, and controls. Conducting diagnostic tests and evaluating performance metrics. Developing procedures to ensure data integrity and quality. Preparing and presenting system performance reports to senior managers. Performing database maintenance, migration, and upgrading hardware and software. Documenting processes and complying with best practices in database management. Keeping up to date with developments and trends in database management technologies Qualifications A leader with strong communications and organizational skills with the ability to deal with ambiguity while juggling multiple priorities and projects simultaneously Degree in Computer Science or Engineering or Equivalent Ability to build cross-functional relationships through trust, respect, and partnership. 8-10 years of experience in leading Database Services (Custom/Packaged Solutions) Teams 8-10 years of experience in Project Management / Delivery of medium to large-scale programs Experience with agile development methodology (i.e. SAFe Agile) Strong finance skills to understand and incorporate finance funding cycle and required support Technical Skills Required: 10+ years Database Services experience/knowledge (Microsoft Azure, AWS) In-depth knowledge of database technologies, architecture, and data security. Knowledge of best practices in database management. Advanced analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Experience in delivering projects in Agile (Scrum, Kanban etc). Coach and Provide direction to Teams in delivering business value consistently in sprints Ability to define solution roadmap to solve business problems Desire to develop new technology skills and business knowledge through training and self-study
