Principal Audio Platform Developer

Who are we hiring? MSG Ventures’ is looking for a Principle Audio Audio Platform Developer to join our groundbreaking Advanced Engineering design and development team. This position will bridge the engineering and creative worlds defining what it means to create world-class audio content for MSG Sphere projects utilizing revolutionary technologies including a massive multi-channel high-definition wave field synthesis matrix array audio system of unprecedented scale, complexity, and quality. The Principle Audio Platform Developer role shall be part of the development team assisting in defining the entire audio pipeline, from recording concepts and techniques to audio editing, mixing, and spatialization, through to final playback and show control integration. This position requires a hands-on technical and creative leader able to identify Sphere immersive audio needs and deliver solutions both through external partnerships and internal development. What will you do? • Be the spokesperson and evangelist for Sphere audio and show production technologies to educate and involve audio industry professionals through hands-on creative demonstrations, presentations, personal meetings, and networking. • Provide technical and creative support to the Sphere sound production department • Create 3D system deployment visualizations and layouts and perform complex electroacoustic modeling and auralizations. • Develop audio spatialization, mixing, playout tools and systems for Sphere Immersive Sound. • Design and program audio system digital signal processing and layouts that realize creative workflows for Sphere, including the identification or development of tools to improve the ability of content creators to realize their creative intent. • Be a key player in defining the needs of a creative software suite that realize content creator’s perspective and visions by identifying needed features and acting as the primary end-user to test released features. • Be a primary interface for MSG Ventures with external companies to unify technology solutions with the needs of MSG Sphere; likewise, identify areas where MSG may need to modify Sphere workflow to unify its solutions with best-in-class industry standards. • Interface effectively with Ventures’ Audio Software Engineering department. • Support audio recording, editing, mixing, spatialization, and playback activities for Sphere content testing and production. What do you need to succeed? • College degree preferred or additional production certificate programs. • Minimum of 10 years' experience in audio design, audio tech and engineering for film, television, live events, and/or themed entrainment. • Experience designing and developing immersive audio tools and systems. • Live event audio sound design and/or mix experience with large format experiences or concerts. • In-depth understanding of sound techniques from capture through post to final master or mix for live events. • Thorough knowledge configuring and troubleshooting all current professional digital audio workstations, audio consoles and control surfaces, synchronization systems, and advanced digital signal processing systems. • In depth working knowledge of MADI, OSC, MIDI, Word Clock, Dante, AES67/Ravenna, QLan, and other audio over IP protocols. • Thorough knowledge of leading audio creative and technical software and plug-ins. • Proficient in software development skills including C++, standard scripting languages, and code validation/debugging tools • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work under high pressure with tight deadlines.
