Context and Requirements According to a project on the application of ecodesign for sustainable products, the purpose of this internship is to evaluate the implementation of ecodesign, based on the study of anticipated regulations and to test the methodology proposed by a published series and project series of standards for Sustainability (EN IEC 62430; ISO IEC IEEE 24748-3; IEC 63428; EN 45560; EN 50598-3 and others). This project allows an adaptation on a larger scale within Schneider Electric by integrating and comparing it to the current design process for our product range. The aim of the internship is helping to define our Process for Environmental Conscious Design that should ensure regulatory compliance of products put on the European market. This methodology is in process and has been applied only partly on company projects. Its applicability will be assessed in conjunction with a product in the current design process as suggested for this experiment. Portability to any other projects in Drives’ domain will be considered. The project outcome should include a description of gaps between the current development practice and the requirements to apply this new Ecodesign methodology for environmental constraints. This methodology is issued from published active regulations and standards as well as from projects for material efficiency aspects and other environmental constraints supporting the Circular Economy. In close collaboration with the Standardization team, project design team, and Ecodesign Team, the methodology will be applied to the future power electronics product for motor control: you assess the conformity of our equipment designed, based on the analysis of regulatory and normative ecodesign texts related to Material Efficiency and circular Economy; You work in collaboration with the Ecodesign team to consider the impact of your work results on the products’ ecodesign process, using Life Cycle Cost Analysis tool (LLCA) and FMEA methodology; In collaboration with the Ecodesign, standardization, and R&D teams, you suggest a process of “optimized ecodesign methodology for Material Efficiency related to environmental constraints and Circular economy” for products of the Line-of-Business “drives” of our Schneider Electric company; You activate this “optimized Ecodesign methodology” in a real ecodesign project; You participate in the building of minimal and maximal level of requirements for an optimized ecodesign related to Material Efficiency; In conclusion, you write an executive Note on the project outcome and progress with expectation for the future. Profile You are in Master 2 or 3rd year of engineer school generalist, mechanics, maintenance or electronics, you expect to integrate an industrial multinational company in a technical domain. You matter the environment and would like to act for a more virtuous industry. Languages: You speak and write currently in English, almost all the work will be conducted in English (Reporting, Global meetings). Competencies: You are trained in engineering technics and/or for the management of environmental constraints; You are a user of Excel (formulas and macros) and PowerPoint. Ideally, you have already done an internship in dependability, you know the FMEA methodology and the Life Cycle Cost analysis. Behaviour: You are autonomous to find information.
