<p>As a Principal Case Officer, you will join one of the CMA's Antitrust and Cartels enforcement teams, which play a key role in achieving the CMA’s aims by uncovering and investigating hardcore cartels, anticompetitive agreements and abuses of dominant positions. Our investigations vary greatly in subject and are generally high-profile, analytically challenging, with multiple investigations spanning sectors from digital, pharmaceutical and financial services, to construction services, electric vehicle charging and football club merchandise.</p>
<p>Within this position you will play a central role investigating one or more suspected competition law infringements. You will help gather and analyse factual and economic evidence, [making appropriate and analytically robust conclusions.] You will also prepare key documents and will be involved in project strategy, scoping and planning. With senior guidance and support, you will take lead responsibility for the delivery of individual elements of the investigation (including procedural aspects of certain workstreams) and, as required, for the work and staff management of one or more Project Officers.</p>
<p>Alongside your core role progressing investigations, some of your responsibilities may potentially also include helping to develop pipeline cases including intelligence leads, applying for search warrants for ‘dawn raids’ and helping defend appeals brought to the Competition Appeal Tribunal.</p>
<p>Within the Antitrust and Cartels enforcement teams, you may also get involved in the development of cartel and antitrust policy at a national and international level and have opportunities to represent the CMA externally. You may also get the opportunity to work or gain experience in other areas of the CMA’s work, including market studies, market investigations, merger investigations, and regulatory appeals.</p>
<p>In order to succeed in this role you will need to provide demonstrable experience of working as a lawyer, economist, litigator, investigator, consultant or adviser with knowledge of complex enforcement or regulatory cases. Complex analytical work will be familiar to you, compounding this with a set of excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to successfully organise and prioritise work to meet expected work standards and deadlines.</p>
