Product Engineer

<p>Veolia Water Technologies &amp; Solutions (VWTS) is a $3.2B leading provider of membrane separations and purification technologies for water and process applications. This position is in the WTS Center of Excellence (COE) for Electroseparation Technology in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, and will help drive our new product introduction (NPI) growth programs globally. The Product Engineer design new stack parts and maintain existing products using advanced engineering tools resulting in products or processes that are best-in-class in the marketplace.<br />

<b>Function/Responsibilities:</b></p>

<ul>
<li>Help lead the structural design and development of new cost effective and efficient electrically driven deionization devices.</li>
<li>Work with the technology, product management and manufacturing teams to define the mechanical requirements for stack components and assembly, through computer analysis and hands-on testing.</li>
<li>Collaborate with a cross-functional global team to implement new innovative and cost effective manufacturing methods.</li>
<li>Contribute to troubleshooting customer and manufacturing problems related to all E-sep products.</li>
<li>Design evaluation of competitive products and technologies for IP, cost analysis and marketing purposes.</li>
<li>Travel to customer sites occasionally to support new product introduction.</li>
<li>This position is in the R&amp;D Centre of Excellence (COE) for electrodeionization and electrodialysis in Guelph, and will help drive our growth programs globally.</li>

<b>Qualifications/Requirements:</b></p>

<ul>
<li>Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.</li>
<li>Detailed materials knowledge, especially in plastics and polymer processing science.</li>
<li>Experience designing for and working with plastics molders, sheet and net extruders, and metal fabricators.</li>
<li>Experience with CAD software and 3D modelling.</li>
<li>Detailed knowledge of mechanical design including FEA.</li>
<li>Independent, motivated self-starter with the personal initiative to help shape a Growth Program platform.</li>
<li>Strong statistical and project management skills.</li>
<li>Excellent oral and written English and presentation skills.</li>
<li>Strong interpersonal, and communication skills.</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering is a plus!</li>
<li>Industrial product design experience in water treatment and/or food processing involving electrically driven membrane separation processes (electrodialysis, batteries, fuelcell).</li>
<li>Experience with business management software, e.g. SAP and Eng. change processes.</li>
<li>Experience with hydrodynamics and mass transfer analysis (CFD).</li>
<li>Knowledge of web-handling and extrusion processes.</li>
<li>Programming and computer model development experience.</li>
