Principal Technical Design Lead

We are hiring a Principal Technical Design Lead with a strong background in Mechanical Engineering Product Design to join the Schneider Electric Solar + Storage team. Our preference is for incumbent to be living within a commutable distance to our Richmond Canada office, but we are open to fully remote work for the right candidate living in the U.S. or Canada. What will you do? Lead design throughout the engineering process from initial concept to final production release Within a collaborative design team, create and modify mechanical designs and drawings in Creo Parametric Proactively conceptualize product concepts based on market requirements Lead design throughout the engineering process from initial concept to final production release Validate mechanical components, analyze data, and write test reports Estimate personal design timelines and provide feedback to project schedules Use engineering principles to analyze designs for structural integrity, thermal performance, material performance, manufacturability, and serviceability What qualifications will make you successful? Undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering and 15+ years of experience in relevant industry in product design Robust leader with demonstrated ability to design and steer high volume product solutions. Exceptional detailed design sense in creation of CAD models and drawings of electrical enclosures and hardware design/placement using Creo Mechanical design of sheet metal parts, injection molded parts, machined parts, and harnessing for prototype and high-volume production Sound engineering design methodologies: minimum constraint design, tolerance stack-up analysis, and GD&T coupled with design for manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, reliability, quality, and cost mentalities Familiarity with design for regulatory compliance for electro-mechanical products (UL/IEC/NEC) as well as outdoor and ingress protection design implementations is preferred Experience in BOM creation, ECO’s, DFMEA, FTA, and DVT processes preferred Creating a More Sustainable World, Together Sustainability is at the core of our purpose – to empower all to make the most of our energy and resources, bridging progress and sustainability for all.
