Senior Technical Writer - Hardware

We are hiring a Senior Technical Writer with a strong background in Hardware User Manual Design to join the Schneider Electric Solar + Storage team. Our preference is for incumbent to be living within a commutable distance to our Richmond Canada office, but we are open to fully remote work for the right candidate living in the U.S. or Canada. What will you do? Within a collaborative technical communications team, proactively and independently prepare, edit, test, and publish documents in Madcap Flare Create and rewrite documents such as user manuals, quick start guides, app notes, and online help material Illustrate documents through creation of line drawings Estimate personal timelines and provide feedback to project schedules Collaborate directly with engineers and stakeholders throughout the entire design process What qualifications will make you successful? Undergraduate degree or diploma in English, Technical Communications, Engineering, or a related discipline. 10+ years of experience in relevant industry in technical writing Full professional proficiency in English, both written and verbal communication. Ability to write in a suitable clear and concise manner Exceptional written presentation in creation of technical documentation for hardware products and software tools using Madcap Flare, Adobe Illustrator, HTML, and CSS, while leveraging single-sourcing and content reuse Experience editing detailed technical documents to meet established standards, style, and brand guidelines, while designing and maintaining documentation templates and style sheets to meet these requirements Familiarity creating technical illustrations derived from CAD outputs (Creo View) Strong collaborator with ability to engage a variety of stakeholders, SMEs, and other technical writers to quickly converge on desired solution Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines in parallel, with changing priorities Creating a More Sustainable World, Together Sustainability is at the core of our purpose – to empower all to make the most of our energy and resources, bridging progress and sustainability for all.
