Reporting to the Stations Electrical Engineering Manager, this position is in our Vancouver, BC office. This role has overall responsibility for leading a project team for Transmission and Substation projects from conception to construction. If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges in a fast-paced environment, this is the opportunity for you. <br><br><ul><li> Leading engineering design on 12 kV to 500 kV overhead and underground transmission and substation projects from the conceptual design stage through construction, including mentoring junior engineers and designers </li><li> Cooperate and communicate effectively with the project manager and other project participants to provide assistance and technical support </li></ul><ul><li> Strong technical writing skills with the ability to lead the preparation of multi-discipline design report and commissioning documents </li><li> Writing and planning project scope, proposals, estimates, change notices, budgets and similar documents </li><li> Managing engineering costs and maintaining schedules by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems </li><li> Preparing project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions </li><li> Participating in client design and constructability review meetings, act as the main technical interface for local clients where required </li><li> Maintaining and enhancing relationships with internal groups and external contractors and clients </li><li> Traveling and visiting client sites and offices during project definition, detailed design and construction </li><li> Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications </li><li> Checking specifications, drawings, and test reports to ensure high-quality design </li><li> Ensuring the latest safe practices and methods are integrated into the design </li><li> Fulfilling the duties of Professional Record for work within the field of practice </li><li> Coordinating installation and commissioning activities with the utility and subcontractors </li><li> Responding to information requests from construction and ensuring project documentation is completed </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><ul><li> Electrical Engineering Degree from a recognized university along with a Canadian Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng.) or the ability to register as a Professional Engineer with EGBC </li><li> Experience with tracking design budgets, providing accurate forecasts, identifying and managing scope change, and the ability to support/mentor Discipline Leads in these areas </li><li> BC Hydro experience is considered an asset </li><li> Experience with designing typical substation drawings such as one-line & phasing diagrams, layout plans, sections, ground grid layouts, grounding details, conduit & cable routing plans, and details </li><li> Minimum 8 years of engineering experience in a Transmission and Distribution Utility, EPC, or EPCM organization designing transmission and distribution projects </li><li> 3-5 years of demonstrated experience managing groups of engineers, designers, and drafters </li><li> Excellent written and verbal communication skills </li><li> General understanding of electrical, civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines as they relate to the design of transmission and distribution projects for coordination purposes </li><li> Proven field experience with outage planning, construction sequencing and commissioning is considered an asset </li><li> Strong understanding of regulatory codes and standards, including CSA, NESC and ANSI / IEEE </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
