<p><b>Overview / Responsibilities </b><br />
<br />
Wood UK is recruiting for a <b>Section Engineer</b> for a restoration project in South West Scotland.<br />
<br />
You will be fully conversant in land surveying and monitoring Sub-contractors who will be undertaking:</p>

<ul>
<li>The completion of forestry commission roads onsite to the required standard</li>
<li>Foundation / Pile setting out</li>
<li>Tower Surveys</li>
<li>Completion of any agreed outstanding works, including snagging to the SWS project</li>
</ul>

Will be required to liaise with clients and third parties undertaking the restoration of the SWS site<br />
<br />
<b>Responsibilities:</b></p>

<ul>
<li>Day to day Health and Safety matters of staff and sub-contractors working under your control on projects.</li>
<li>Adequate reporting of Safety incidents and &quot;near misses&quot; both internally and externally as required by the client.</li>
<li>Planning, day to day co-ordination and management of Foremen and Linesmen.</li>
<li>Planning, day to day co-ordination and management of Sub-contractors.</li>
<li>Representing the project at the operational level where direct contact is required with the client, landowners and other stakeholders</li>
<li>Control costs and awareness of the financial status of the part of the project for which you are responsible.</li>
<li>Assist with the production of all Method Statements, Work Instructions and Risk Assessments as required by Safety Regulations and / or client for the part of the project for which you are responsible.</li>
<li>Provide the Project Manager with all information required to produce Contract Status Reports (or other reports required by client).</li>
<li>To provide well-documented and timely information to support the Project Manager in project change control.</li>
<li>Plan and co-ordinate required resources (plant, materials and labour) to carry out required projects.</li>
<li>To determine material requirements and liaise with Procurement in a timely manner to ensure all materials are available to complete the project requirements.</li>
<li>Support the Site Construction Manager in technical and resource input for developing target costs where required.</li>
<li>In accordance with our certification to the standards OHSAS 18001:1999, ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 each employee will comply with and contribute to the effective implementation of the current:-
<ul>
<li>Health and Safety Policy</li>
<li>Quality Policy</li>
<li>Environmental Policy</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>

<p><br />
<b>Skills / Qualifications</b></p>

<ul>
<li>Recognised Engineering Qualification such as HND Civil Engineering</li>
<li>Possess a recognised Safety Qualification (SSSTS / CSCS / SMSTS).</li>
<li>Experience in site supervision of Overhead Line contracts, in particular on steel tower construction at the higher voltages (circa 132kV and above).</li>
<li>Previous experience in the management of Sub-contractors and the recording of measurement details to enable financial settlement.</li>
</ul>

<b>Skills and Experience:</b></p>

<ul>
<li>Ideally have knowledge of this or similar projects</li>
<li>Experience of managing the input of design teams</li>
<li>Experienced in coordinating and interfacing with construction team and sub-contractors</li>
<li>Experienced in coordinating and controlling team delivery in accordance with agreed cost, schedule &amp; change without compromising agreed standards</li>
<li>Experienced in developing and maintaining good relationships with sub-contractors</li>
<li>Experience in developing growth with new clients, supporting the estimating function and winning work and making it profitable</li>
<li>Knowledge and understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental responsibilities</li>
<li>Ability to manage preparation of Project Control Estimates, review and approve same</li>
<li>Ability to issue instructions to proceed with the work to all relevant project personnel</li>
<li>Monitor subcontractors against project schedules</li>
<li>Propose and execute remedial actions for all identified problem areas associated with schedule slippage</li>
<li>Manage expenditure against project control budgets for projects. Alert management of any potential cost overruns</li>
<li>Ensure variations are raised and processed at the correct stage for any changes in the work</li>
<li>Knowledge of Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment studies</li>
<li>Ability to manage the execution of all project close-out activities.</li>
<li>Hold a full driving licence</li>
<li>Produce a negative result for the compulsory Drugs and Alcohol test</li>
<li>Experience in the supervision of all technical aspects of line construction in a site environment.</li>
<li>Experience of various types of foundation construction utilised in Transmission projects and should be conversant with setting out instruments and technique.</li>
