You will be working on VMware Cloud Partner Navigator which is a unified SaaS partner platform for VMware Clouds and cloud services. Cloud Partner Navigator enables VMware Cloud Providers and MSP partners to expand business opportunities beyond their own clouds and services to VMware-supported hyperscalers, public clouds and the edge with easy access to a broad portfolio of cloud services from VMware and an expanding marketplace ecosystem. It provides a portal for consistently managing customers, service subscriptions, usage, billing and support across a multi-cloud landscape. Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing? The following is a schedule for the first year of joining: Within 30 days you will become competent with VMware’s rules, guidelines, and standard operating procedures. Get high level overview of the product. You will feel good as a net contributor to the team's shared mission and research and development efforts. You will be working hand in hand with developers on the team to guide and mentor you. Within 90 days you will learn the product area assigned to you in detail, the technology stack in use, become familiar with the project and features in the assigned domain, and get accustomed to the code base, release cycles etc. You will be confidently and self-sufficiently delivering on complex data engineering problems. You will own the design of the underlying data structures and systems. Within 180 days you will be an expert in the project and be able to work independently with different stakeholders and lead new feature development and be able to propose new innovations/improvements. Within the first year you will be making larger changes to the project from start to finish, including designing the change and going through the architectural review process, implementing the changes in small sub-teams and deploying the changes on the platform. What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis? As a senior member of the Engineering team: Work with the product management team and different stakeholders to review and refine delivery requirements. Build architectural blueprints , design specifications for features that span across application layers and distributed systems. Produce high quality, well-documented code that delivers on the team’s objectives primarily in Java. Participate and influence code/design reviews, setting quality standards and ensuring adherence to them. Oversee progress of development team to ensure consistency with initial design and Ensure software meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility etc. Operate with a service ownership mindset to work in a DevOps mode where the dev team is responsible for all automation, quality, CI/CD, logging, and monitoring of services that are being built. Collaborate with developers, solution architects, field engineers and SREs to make the product ease to integrate, highly available, reliable, scalable, performant and secure. Perform technology assessment, exploration, and prototyping, proving out and recommend tools, technologies and processes to ensure the highest quality product platform Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers, designers and developers. Should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities and direction may change rapidly as customer requirements and market direction changes.
