Communications Lead

Under minimal supervision plans, develops, implements and evaluates effective large communication efforts including strategy development, content determination, creative direction, research, writing, editing and validation. The FedEx Dataworks communications team is looking for an experienced, business-oriented storyteller to join our growing team—someone who is passionate about developing compelling narratives and can highlight proof points that give life to our organization's mission and value. The Communications Lead will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including senior leadership, external agencies, and other members of the communications team, to ensure we are delivering a consistent, cohesive, and inspiring FedEx Dataworks story across all audience segments and channels. Develop and maintain a Dataworks messaging framework that serves as the foundation for all internal and external communication efforts, including executive presentations, employee communications, and external campaigns/announcements. Distill complex information into engaging content for executive-level presentations and messages for both internal and external stakeholders. Lead agency partners in the development of creative assets that help bring our story to life (graphics, videos, presentations, etc.) Serve as a strategic communications advisor to key senior leaders within Dataworks. Develop and support executive and functional communications plans, identifying the appropriate channels, cadence, and audiences for communications on a variety of topics. Write speeches and talking points for internal and external events. Elevate leaderships' voices on specific topics aligned to Dataworks business strategy through a mix of speaking, media and thought-leadership opportunities. Partner with FedEx Corporation's communications team to collaborate, guide and ensure proper placement of enterprise messaging. Leverage analytics to guide content strategy and pivot plans as needed to ensure objectives are met and exceeded. About the Communications Lead: You have a knack for translating deeply technical topics into stories that are understandable and engaging for a non-technical audience. You have a growth mindset and the desire to experiment with new and emerging forms of media in order to reach a broad set of audiences. You have a keen interest in the latest trends in technology innovation, including data science, artificial intelligence, and sustainability. You have a strong writing, editing, and proofing background, with the ability to relay a style and tone that captures the excitement of the FedEx Dataworks mission. You have the capacity to navigate ambiguity, working quickly and decisively to meet deadlines, even as organizational priorities shift. You have strong project management and problem-solving skills with a talent for collaborating effectively and diplomatically with a number of stakeholders, including senior-level leadership. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree/equivalent. Five (5) years directly related experience. Demonstrated experience in institutional or corporate communications with an emphasis on communication planning/analysis and exposure to print and non-print media strategies. Ability to study complex data and broad business strategy and convert into practical, creative and effective communication strategies. Highly proficient analytical, problem-solving, organization, creativity, grammar, writing and human relations/relation management skills.
