<div class="mds-edited-text mds-font-body-copy-bulk"><p>Central is currently recruiting for two <strong>Advice and Support Officers</strong> to work in the <strong>Croydon area</strong>. The service provides supported accommodation to <strong>young people aged 16-21</strong>, who may have high complex needs including mental health issues, to equip them with the skills to live independently.</p>
<p>The successful candidate will be required to work <strong>37.5 hours per week</strong>, working across <strong>Monday - Friday, 9AM - 5:30PM</strong>. Please note, there is a requirement to work one evening a week (1PM - 9PM). This role is offered on a <strong>temp to perm basis</strong>. The pay rate for this role is £11.95 per hour, with £1.74 holiday pay, <strong>totalling £13.69 per hour</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>In this position, you will be expected to:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Hold a caseload of approximately 8-10 young people and conduct regular key working sessions resulting in agreed Support Plans </li>
<li>Complete comprehensive risk and needs assessments </li>
<li>Support the young people with life skills and encourage them to engage in activities that will build confidence and prepare them for the future </li>
<li>Ensure the preparation of, or to prepare rooms for, new service users and liaise with the Housing Officer where repairs, decorating and refurbishment for renewals are required </li>
<li>Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the young people, ensuring that the environment in which they live is free from harm and neglect</li>
<li>Support the service user in the process of applying for Housing Benefit and any other relevant benefits and tenancy agreement</li>
<li>Advise the young person on how to maintain their tenancy/license agreement and consequences should they breach it</li>
<li>Actively ensure the security of the building through visual inspection, regular Health and Safety checks and the reviewing of the CCTV system when appropriate</li>
</ul>
<p>Please note, this role involves loneworking. </p>
<p><strong>To apply for this role, you must have:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience working with young people in a Supported Housing setting</li>
<li>Experience of supporting young and vulnerable people to improve their life skills, confidence and well being</li>
<li>Experience of supporting young people to achieve the outcomes as described in the Every Child Matters green paper</li>
<li>Knowledge and understanding of Housing Law, specifically Supported Housing legislation, including rents and tenancy agreements</li>
<li>Knowledge of the welfare benefits system including universal credit and housing benefit</li>
<li>Experience of developing and maintaining Support Plans and Risk Assessments</li>
<li>Knowledge of Child Protection/Children's Act 1989 and of safeguarding practices</li>
<li>Ability to assess and make appropriate decisions about the specific needs of young people for referral or sign posting to appropriate services</li>
<li>Ability to manage challenging behaviour of young and vulnerable people </li>
</ul>
<p>Candidates must confirm their interest as soon as possible, with interviews scheduled shortly after and the appointed candidate expected to start as soon as possible.</p>
<p><strong>Further requirements:</strong></p>
<p>In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:</p>
<ul>
<li>Current valid right to work in the UK</li>
<li>Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)</li>
<li>A fully enhanced DBS registered on the DBS update service or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)</li>
<li>Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process</li>
</ul>
