Process Designer Section Lead

We have a current opportunity within our Johannesburg Mining & Minerals Office, for a suitably qualified <b>Process Designer Section Lead</b> to join this innovative team. You will join likeminded, agile industry peers who are highly qualified, experienced and recognised industry innovators to create new possibilities. <br><br>This position requires strong technical and managerial leadership skills. The successful candidate will be leading a team of process engineers across multiple offices and will be comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment providing engineering expertise on one of the largest copper concentrator projects in the world. <br><br>If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges in a fast-paced environment, this is the opportunity for you. <br><br><b> Main Purpose of the Role: </b> <br><ul><li> The Process Designer Section Lead' duties include, but not limited to: </li><li> Day-to-day administrative function of the section personnel regarding time keeping, leave, personnel development and performance reviews. </li><li> Ensuring efficiency and productivity to produce project related BFD, PFD, PCD and PID diagrams from mark-ups and process instructions by coordinating all required work on the various studies and projects: </li><li> Setup of relevant project folder / system required at start of study or project. </li><li> Assigning of tasks to distribute the work load evenly and to ensure maximin efficiency. </li><li> Track relevant timelines and manhours used. </li><li> Check the quality of the section' output and minimized mistakes and rework. </li><li> Conduct audits on deliverables. </li><li> Liaising with Lead Process Engineers and other Disciplines where required. </li><li> Supervise all employees who use the required section software: <ul><li> Identify training and retraining requirements. </li><li> Training of all new employees and contractors. </li><li> Assist in developing Junior Engineers on software. </li><li> Provide support when required. </li><li> Providing a first line of technical assistance on section software: </li><li> Perform the administrative function for all section packages on behalf of the Process Department. </li><li> Identify, log and correct all problems reported. </li><li> Drive continuous improvement projects and cost saving initiatives. </li><li> Liaison with the Engineering Systems Admin Department on integration of the data generated by the Process Department. </li></ul></li><li> The Process Designer Section Lead is also responsible for writing the relevant documentation to facilitate the use of selected software. Compiling section standards and procedures and are responsible for maintaining them at all times. </li><li> Assist HODs in compiling of proposals where required </li></ul><br> <b> Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities: </b> <br><ul><li> Administrative functions with personnel development. </li><li> Assigning tasks and tracking of timelines. </li><li> Production of diagrams for Process discipline. </li><li> Timely completion of diagrams to schedules. </li><li> Adherence to section manhour budgets. </li><li> Maintain section document archive and retrieval for projects. </li><li> Adherence to company standards and procedures. </li><li> Correct use of section software. </li><li> Identification and if possible, remediation of technical software issues. </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><b> Qualifications: </b><br><ul><li> Minimum 4 years Process draughting experience of which at least 2 years is in the mining and mineral processing area. </li><li> Proficient in Intelligent PID software. </li><li> Proficiency in AutoCAD & AVEVA PID </li></ul><br><b> Desirable: </b><br><ul><li> 2 Years previous experience in a similar role. </li></ul><br> <b> Knowledge, skills and experience: </b><br><ul><li> Advanced knowledge of various software packages, including AutoCAD and AVEVA PID, relational databases and excel spreadsheets. </li><li> They must be very familiar with various drafting techniques and technologies, as well as with the relevant standards. </li><li> Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and a good eye for detail are essential. </li><li> Understanding of the composition and purpose of process drawings and associated documentation. </li><li> Must demonstrate good leadership skills. </li><li> Good communication skills. </li><li> Good writing skills. </li></ul> <br><br><b> Company Overview </b><br><br>Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
