Our Mining & Metals business consists of more than 5,000 mining professionals delivering consulting and EPCM services for many of the world's leading mining companies from our mining centres of excellence in Australia, Canada, Chile, Peru, South Africa, UK and USA. <br><br>Wood currently has a opportunity for a <b>Junior Underground Mining Engineer </b>in our mining consulting group in Vancouver (other locations in Canada or USA will be considered). Reporting to the Consulting Manager, you will be responsible for performing engineering duties, assist and support consulting projects, to provide quality support to clients, and others within the Wood organization. The candidate shall be comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment with project and engineering management exposure in the mining and consulting industry. <br><br><b> Responsibilities: </b> <br><ul><li> Contribute to the development of underground mine plans, designs, and models to meet client's needs and comply with all applicable regulations </li><li> Support continuous development of equipment estimates, cost estimates and schedules for projects and studies </li><li> Ensure individual output is completed on time, on budget, and exceeding quality standards to support engineering teams </li><li> Developing and maintaining communication channels with internal Wood personnel to ensure smooth workflows and providing first class engineering deliverables </li><li> Gathering up to date information firsthand at mining sites, meeting with clients and constantly monitoring work performances </li></ul> <br><br><b> Skills / Qualifications </b><br><br><ul><li> Undergraduate degree in Mining Engineering </li><li> Strong understanding of underground mining and safe mining practices </li><li> Proficiency with software such as Vulcan, MineSight, Deswik and AutoCAD or similar packages </li><li> Eligibility for registration as an Engineer or Engineer-In-Training with a Canadian Engineering Professional Association </li><li> Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal. Second language proficiency is a plus </li><li> Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint) </li><li> Willingness to travel for extended periods of time to remote locations </li><li> Authorization to work lawfully in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required </li></ul><br><b> Why Wood? </b><br><br>With us, you'll be challenged.
