Tanzu Solution Engineering team Create Tanzu reference architecture, best practices and engagement with key Tanzu customers to provide recommendation on building modern application platform, also qualify their ISV solutions on Tanzu platform. What is the primary need or problem you will be responsible for? The Sr. Cloud Solution Architect will be part of the Modern Applications Platform Solutions Engineering team, whose charter is to work with strategic cloud providers to engineer innovative solutions to address their unique requirements and challenges and enabling strategic design wins and positive outcomes. As part of the team, you are responsible for designing and delivering reference designs for Tanzu product portfolio on VMware Software Designed Data Center (SDDC) stack as well as native cloud IaaS platform. You will use the reference design to deliver an actual implementation for a POC or a production deployment. This is a very hands-on job where you will bring in a mix of technical/architectural skills, business insight, along with a deep understanding of the datacenter and cloud networking concepts and knowledge to deliver positive outcomes. Building a solution may involve activities such as running workshops, conducting client interviews, secondary research, guidance from the account team, working with specialists, product managers, and other partners. You will document best practices in developing and deploying VMware solutions and feed them into our knowledge base. Within the first 6-12 months, what are the 2-3 most important performance goals I would be expected to complete for you to consider me successful in this role? Provide Subject Matter Expertise in hybrid-cloud computing with Tanzu container platforms ; thereby becoming a trusted advisor to influential decision makers. Engage with VMware ISVs to design and implement target applications application architecture based on VMware Tanzu Implement production-ready architecture includes secured, high performance, Day 2 operations, backup and zero downtime. You are comfortable developing and delivering certified reference designs and presentations, including advanced technical concepts, to key decision makers and broad audience. Must have designed and deployed atleast 2 microservices application architecture on Tanzu, Kubernetes and/or Openshift and ability to develop work products during the project lifecycle Work to harvest best practices and document lessons learned as part of continuous improvement of our offerings. Be proficient in atleast one cloud providers, such as VMware Tanzu, RedHat OpenShift, AKS, EKS or Kubernetes Ability to run architecture POC on-site with partners and lead the entire activity. You will work collaboratively with product management, technical marketing and engineering and provide feedback on ways to improve the solution offering. What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis? 10+ years’ experience in a solution engineering/ architect capacity woked on app modernization, large scale enterprise systems integration, IT Transformations and/or Cloud Architecture and migrations. At least 3+ years’ experience in any of the kubernets platform and/or cloud native applapplication architecture and design of complex distributed systems environments, including failover techniques, recovery/rollback, and application partitioning. Possess hands-on and architecture experience with VMware Tanzu and Hybrid cloud portfolios. Familiar with Switching, Routing, Traditional Hierarchical and Spine & Leaf architectures. Familar with Java/Middleware/Microservice are plus. Demonstrated critical thinking and advanced troubleshooting skills and qualities. You are effective in working both independently and in a team setting. Strong consulting soft skills and subtle conflict management skills. Excellent communication skills both written and oral, are required. Be willing to travel globally. Software development skills are a plus. A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, related field or equivalent experience. What is the leadership like for this role?
