Platform Admin (Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry) - Opportunity for Working Remotely

The Elevator Pitch: Why will you enjoy this new opportunity? Working with the application platform team as a Platform Engineer, you will get to work on Platform as a Service (Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry) offerings by VMware to its Development teams for running business critical applications. You will be working on the latest offerings from VMware in this space and various other stacks and technologies which these platforms integrate with like SQL & NoSQL databases, log aggregation systems, monitoring systems, build systems, etc. You will get to be part of a highly technical team which delivers on some of the core priorities for the users of the system. You will get to work on improving the availability of distributed systems using various tools, processes, and technologies. Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing? Within 30 days of employment, become competent with Team’s Standard operations and guidelines. Fully understand the architecture of our systems Within 90 days of employment, You will work closely with Application development team, infrastructure team and Network team to provide day-to-day operations support for the Platform. Debug issues on the platform layer in depth and find the root cause along with remediation plan Write detailed documentation to help share the knowledge within the team. Within 180 days of employment you will be: Independently working on escalations related to the platform Suggesting for improvements in operating procedures based on your experience and understanding of the operating procedures. Writing detailed implementation plans for the projects. Writing automation to reduce manual intervention or execution of tasks. Tuning configurations to improve the performance of the platform and applications The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis? Prepare and implement day 2 operations for the Application platform Follow the change management process for implementing of changes to production and non production environment. Analyze issues reported by users of the platform and help resolve any platform related issues Represent Platform team and contribute to various conversations on day to day operations of the platform. Use your Kubernetes and Cloud foundry expertise along with Platform engineering principles to address open issues reported. What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like? The hiring manager for this role is Manas Singh, Manager – Application Platforms, who manages the platform team. He has been with VMware for more than 5 years. He believes in open dialogue with all his team members to work towards effective solutions truly helping the end users. The team is distributed in US, India and Costa Rica. Most of the team members work out of Bangalore office.
